Following the Goliate MyPleasure, let’s keep going with budget sex toy reviews. The Fun Factory Joupie is one of the entry-level vibrators from the German brand.
It costs less than thirty euros. Let’s see what kind of device we’re dealing with.
Here is our review of the Fun Factory Joupie.
Packaging
A simple, small, thin cardboard, disposable box. No case, nor any other accessory. As usual with Fun Factory.
Appearance of the Fun Factory Joupie
The Joupie is straight and slim, with a small curved nub at the end. Its diameter is 2.5 cm. Its shape is extremely simple, perhaps too so to my taste.
Texture and materials
The sex toy is rigid, but its tip is all squishy. Its coating is pure, soft silicone, and beneath it hides a hard section that houses the motor and the batteries.
Powering the Fun Factory Joupie
The Joupie runs on two AA batteries (the most common type). It’s 2019: battery-powered sex toys should really be nothing but a retro curiosity.
The battery compartment opens by twisting the base of the sex toy. That’s awkward: the Joupie turns on and off by twisting that very same part of the vibrator. When turning on the sex toy, if you twist a bit too hard, whoops, you accidentally open the compartment and drop the batteries.
It is nonetheless waterproof. So you can use it in the shower or the bath, and you won’t have any trouble cleaning it.

Controls and modes
The Joupie goes for minimalism. It offers no choice in intensity or type of vibrations. It’s either on or off, full stop. It’s a bit blunt.
On top of that, there’s the flaw with the on/off button, which I mentioned in the previous paragraph. If you’re a bit too rough, you open the battery compartment instead of starting the vibrator. And in the heat of the moment, it can happen, especially if your fingers are covered in lubricant or other fluids, things get slippery.
Effectiveness of the Fun Factory Joupie
The vibrations of the Fun Factory Joupie are decent, that’s about it. By pressing its head against my clitoris, I manage to come with it, but I have to work at it a bit. In short: not powerful enough to be really fun.
It can also be used for vaginal penetration. Its slim diameter allows for easy insertion. However, its shape doesn’t really suit the anatomy. Granted, its head angles slightly forward, but that’s not enough for optimal G-spot stimulation.
Conclusion on the Fun Factory Joupie vibrator
The good points:
- The Joupie is made of pure silicone.
- It is waterproof.
- It’s not expensive: less than €30.
The bad points:
- It offers no way to vary the intensity of the vibrations.
- Its vibrations lack power.
- Its overly straight shape isn’t great.
- When trying to turn it on, you can accidentally open the battery compartment.

Review score
Pros
- Pure silicone
- Waterproof
Cons
- No vibration settings
- Lack of power
- Risk of accidentally opening the battery compartment
By creating a budget sex toy, Fun Factory was working from a good premise. But it could have put more effort into it. The Joupie won’t compete with the brand’s more expensive sex toys. And that’s probably the point.
My opinion on the Fun Factory Joupie could be summed up as “meh!”. For a battery-powered vibrator, the quality is quite good. But then again, it’s a battery-powered vibrator in the first place. And its shape is meh, its vibrations are meh, its controls are non-existent, and its power button is poorly designed.
If you have a sex toy budget of €30, choose a different vibrator, like the Goliate MyPleasure.
Thanks to Fun Factory for providing us with the Joupie for this review
