After hearing so much about Chaturbate and reading camgirl blogs (like Charlie Liveshow, for example), the idea of trying exhibitionism on Chaturbate had been on my mind… Well, by “trying”, I mean showing myself on there. As a viewer, I already enjoyed having a little look (or several) from time to time… But one “detail” was holding me back: I had no desire to run the risk of being recognised.
On a swingers’ dating site like Wyylde, for example, the webcams are only shown to members. So if your neighbour recognises your face and dares to say a word, you can always point out that he has an account on the same site, which proves he’s at least as depraved as you are. Whereas Chaturbate’s streams are broadcast publicly… Which means a whole lot of people can watch…
Recently, to make a video, I bought a mask… No, I don’t mean a face cream to spread over my face, with a couple of cucumber slices over my eyes, but a lovely handcrafted leather mask, found on Etsy (in Eternaldesigns’ shop)…. Since this accessory would let me show myself off incognito without having to keep checking that my face stayed out of shot, I decided to take the plunge.
So I created a Chaturbate account.
By the way: I vaguely tried the trick of making sure the camera wasn’t pointing at my face. The verdict: with my laptop’s webcam, it’s far too much of a faff to last more than two minutes… I can’t read what’s on screen without my face being in range of the camera, which means I have to put my finger over the lens to read and reply to the messages people send me.
Before switching on the webcam
First, a few things to bear in mind before getting started:
Location
By default, once it’s created, your Chaturbate profile publicly displays the region you’re in, without having asked you first. It’s best to delete this information and replace it with something vaguer, such as your country.
Watch out for recordings
If you look through your account settings, under the “Settings and Privacy” tab, you’ll see an option that’s ticked by default: “Allow Private Show Recordings”. The note says: “After a private show, members can receive a non-downloadable recording in their private collection” (well, you’d have guessed without my help that “non-downloadable” is pretty much a joke if you have the right screen-recording software)…
Untick that straight away! If the prospect of a stranger having a video of you recorded live (meaning you’ll have no control over it after the show) isn’t enough to put you off, here’s what will: some unscrupulous sites have no qualms about reselling the videos they get this way as VOD, without the camgirl (or camboy) knowing about it. Not only have they never given their permission, they don’t get a penny from it either!
Exhibitionism on Chaturbate: first stream
With my account set up, I slip into my finest birthday suit and my woodland-elf mask, and start streaming… Perhaps I should have started off more dressed, to build a little suspense, but it’s ridiculously hot, so I’ll skip the striptease.
People start arriving…
Little by little, people turn up on my stream… They talk to me… The messages fly past too quickly, and I try to reply to everyone, but I can’t keep up (I later realised it was easier to reply out loud than to try typing out sentences…).
The vast majority are men, and lots of them behave more or less as they do on dating-site streams: plenty of “hello” and other greetings, quite a few nice compliments, and a few rather pushy propositions. But there are also some lovely, well-meaning guys who, seeing that my account is brand new, offer to help me get to grips with how the site works.
Among other things, I’m told that I’ve forgotten to verify my account, which means I can’t receive tokens (the site’s “currency”, which you can buy, give to someone putting on a show, or exchange for real money, with Chaturbate taking a commission).
Never mind: earning money as a camgirl takes an enormous amount of work and talent, and I’m hardly going to make a fortune by showing my bum for a few moments, casually, on my slightly blurry webcam. I’d rather have fun without stressing myself out trying to scrape together a few pennies. I’ll worry about getting verified later.
First action
I have a few sex toys to hand, including the Patchy Paul G5, which I decide to put to use. Although it looks like a friendly little caterpillar, this toy is seriously powerful… After a few orgasms, I accidentally click the wrong thing, which duplicates the webcam window and cuts the stream off for a few seconds.
Getting off works up an appetite: the involuntary break distracts me, and I realise I’m starting to feel hungry… I quickly reconnect to say goodbye to the viewers who’ve virtually kept me company while I played. Then I switch off the webcam, ready to raid the fridge.
A surprise viewer
Just then, Him turns up. I’d asked him not to come into the room during my exhibitionist experiment, so I’d feel more at ease (putting on a show for strangers is one thing; doing it in front of someone you know is another…). What timing! A coincidence? Not really: he’d just watched the entire show live, and was disappointed when it ended.
Reconnecting
A little later that evening, I decide to do it all again.

Nothing too dramatic: to unblock my account and carry on showing myself, I have to prove that I’m over 18, and to do that, I need to verify my profile… Well, it’s flattering. I know I have a fresh complexion (yeah, right!) and rosy cheeks, but still, I’ve been of age for nearly a decade… So I assume it’s the work of a bot.
Verifying a Chaturbate account
Anyway, let’s verify this account, since apparently we have to.
To do so, you have to prove you’re over 18. And for that, you have to show a form of ID, along with a photo of your face next to the same document. Well, I hope Chaturbate’s servers are secure… Because if they ever had an Ashley Madison-style disaster, the creepy perverts of the internet would have a lovely directory to get their teeth into…
But that’s not all. You also have to sign a charter, the “performer agreement”, which seems to treat the person behind the webcam (whether they accept tokens or not) as more or less a professional. It talks about “services” provided by the person putting on the show.
In case you’ve suddenly started having horrible doubts… Yes, I really am one of those lunatics who always reads the terms and conditions… Hey, wait! Don’t run off! Come back!
Some slightly worrying terms and conditions
One part of said charter (screenshot below) catches my eye. It says:
“I authorise the use of my name, and all my stage names and aliases, [blah, blah, blah…] for and in connection with the provision of services on websites owned and/or operated by the site and/or third parties, and for any kind of advertising [blah, blah…]”
Wait… A few lines above, where I just entered my name, I was assured that it would remain strictly confidential… What the hell?
And yet the following lines specifically prohibit revealing your real name or contact details on the site…
Faced with these contradictions, we can assume that the “name” mentioned earlier only means the username you use to introduce yourself to viewers… Besides, the site would be shooting itself in the foot if it started revealing its members’ identities… Still, it’s a bit off-putting.
Even so, I accept the charter, and my account is verified less than an hour later… But I’ve gone off for a kip in the meantime, so the next instalment will have to wait for another day.

A few days later, I log back in to Chaturbate. It’s not a particularly good time, so there aren’t many people on my stream… But I do recognise a few usernames from my previous experience.
So I decide to give my viewers the show I’d announced then, but hadn’t managed to put into action. I alternate between vibrators and orgasm after orgasm, under the camera’s gaze… And in the next room, Him is watching the scene on a screen too.
I had a great time, and I think I’ll do it again from time to time… But that’s another story…
