You may have already heard of La Tour est Folle, this Parisian sex toy made in France, modelled on the Eiffel Tower.
Its creator, Sébastien Lecca, sent us four colours: blue, black, fuchsia and pink.
Fantasising about the Eiffel Tower is hardly a novelty. But now the idea has materialised.
So, is La Tour est Folle a decorative object, a sex toy, or both at once? Its website promises “a monumental pleasure”. Let’s see what it is like in this test.
Packaging of the sex toy
The box for La Tour est Folle is made of cardboard.
It opens in a fun way. You pull a tab (which also acts as a handle) on the top, and its two halves separate by tilting to the sides, just enough to admire the Tower and take it out of its packaging.
La Tour est Folle and its box are entirely Made in France, an ethical choice by its creators, out of respect for the monument.
The appearance of La Tour est Folle: an Eiffel Tower sex toy
The inside of the Tower is hollow, which makes it fairly light, and may, according to its creators, allow a vibrator to be built in… Perhaps, but only if you can find one that is exactly the right size.
Thanks to its four legs, it stands upright, and remains very stable.
The tower is 27 centimetres tall in total, with an insertable part of 15.5 centimetres, about 3.5 centimetres in diameter.
Texture and material
La Tour est Folle is made from TPU, a thermoplastic elastomer used in medical and cosmetic fields. This material, which is hypoallergenic, does not contain phthalates and is compliant with the European standard REACH. Sébastien Lecca spoke to me about “lab results”, so I therefore deduce that everything has been properly checked.
The insertable part is fairly rigid, with a firm head, while its legs, being thinner, are flexible. Overall, the material gives a slightly more “plastic” feel than silicone, but remains quite pleasant.
Testing other materials, such as silicone, and other textures (maybe a little softer) is among the projects of its creators.
Using La Tour est Folle and a good laugh
First step before being able to really try La Tour est Folle: keeping a straight face.
Generally, I am quite good at concentrating on what I am doing when it comes to using a sex toy, and I can toy with myself without qualms while remaining impervious to what is happening around me. But when He exclaimed “Umm… You’ve got an Eiffel Tower in your cunt!”, it was no longer really possible to escape the hilarity.
Apart from some difficulties in keeping a straight face, this unusual object proved fairly decent overall as a dildo. It can be held firmly, by its legs or by putting two fingers through the hole above the first level. It also stands upright, but only on a firm, flat surface: for example, on the floor or on a chair, but not on a bed.
I had some concerns about the rigidity of the material. But the firm, rounded head of the Tower turns out to penetrate rather easily once lubricated. This sphere presses against the G-spot when the tower is slightly tilted. It is certainly far from being the ideal sex toy, but it is usable.
The object is easy to handle. Its surface, very smooth, slides rather well. The diameter of the insertable part is roughly that of an average penis, which was quite suitable for me for vaginal penetration.
I did not try anal penetration with La Tour est Folle, finding it too wide for my liking for this use – at least, for a rigid and rather hard sex toy. But if you are not afraid of its size, given its wide base, there is no contraindication to insertion into the titti.
Conclusion about La Tour est Folle
The good points:
- It is hard to find anything more original!
- The ethics of the product: made in France, so, a priori, no one was exploited in making it.
- La Tour est Folle stands upright.
The bad points:
- This unlikely object generates more laughs than orgasms.
If I consider it solely as a sex toy (omitting the fact that it is in the shape of the Eiffel Tower), La Tour est Folle is a decent sex toy. Its shape and texture are pleasant, it is easy to handle, and it even stands upright.
But of course, its look has to be taken into account. So I would not use it in just any context. For example, I will leave La Tour est Folle on its shelf if I plan to keep a straight face for more than three seconds.
In short, in addition to its decorative potential, La Tour est Folle is quite usable as a sex toy. It then remains to be determined whether you are tempted by the idea of being penetrated by such an unusual and symbolic object, and that is up to you.
Review score
Pros
- Original!
- Made in France
- Perfectly usable as a sextoy (if you can get past the fact that it's the Eiffel Tower)
Cons
- Hard to stay serious while using it
- A bit rigid
- (Test updated) Warning: Dubious material!!!
Edit (2017): We have noticed that over time, a whitish residue has appeared on the surface of our samples of this first version of La Tour est Folle. We did not reuse them following this test. It therefore cannot be due to an incompatibility with a lubricant or a cleaning product.
Although the material meets European standards, it breaks down over time, which does not inspire me with any confidence at all.
A new version, in silicone, has since been released… But this La Tour est Folle 2.0 is made in China, which completely breaks the spirit of the original product.
