Lelo Mona Wave: a wave-head vibrator review

on

The Lelo Mona 2 is one of my favourite sex toys. I was also really excited when I heard about the release of its successor, the Mona Wave.

The Lelo Mona Wave vibrator

Unlike its predecessors, the Mona Wave isn’t just a vibrator: its head tilts, making a back-and-forth, up-and-down movement to stimulate the G-spot. G-spot. Well, that’s the theory. But in practice, what does it actually do? Here’s the review of the Lelo Mona Wave.

Sex toy packaging

Lelo doesn’t joke around with packaging: all of its sex toys come in a beautiful, thick cardboard box. However, we received a sample of the Mona Wave for testing, so it came without packaging. As I can never bring myself to throw away even a single Lelo box (they take up space, but they’re so well made!), this will give the little space left in my sex toy cupboard a reprieve.

The look of the Lelo Mona Wave

Visually, the Mona Wave looks a lot like the Mona 2, with a few notable differences:

  • The handle is silicone, like the sex toy’s head. It’s softer, and less glossy.
  • The controls are not raised. Only the power button forms a recess that can easily be located with the tip of a finger. The buttons that let you adjust the intensity and vibration mode are hidden under the silicone; only the symbol that indicates them is visible and on the surface.
  • Available colours: the Mona 2 came in pinkish-red, fuchsia and violet versions, while the Mona Wave offers a beautiful midnight blue shade and a black model, classy and understated, as well as the traditional purple colour.

Texture and materials

The entire surface of the sex toy is made of silicone (body-safe material). (body-safe material)

.replace? Wait need correct. Let’s not include . before body-safe. Source segment 4 is separate. Actually segment 4: “(matériau body-safe)”. Output: “(body-safe material)”. Need ensure not add dot. Correct. Need final only JSON. Need careful with segment 5 spacing: preserve? We’ll output no extra. Ensure JSON valid. Need not include analysis. Final: In final just array. Need ensure escaped quotes in segment 18. Let’s produce: [

.r? No. Need use actual newline in JSON string? The source segments include .r? Need include literal r? Wait in prompt segments displayed with .r? They are escaped in user message: .r? In actual JSON, we should include .r? In final JSON, string should contain newline characters as .r? Since requested table JSON of strings, likely preserve .r? The input segments show .r? in the prompt as escaped .r? It says segments: Texture and materialsThe entire surface of the sex toy is made of silicone (as a fiddly search would kill the mood).

Modes

The Mona Wave has 9 modes. In order:

  • The head of the sex toy tilts up and down, while vibrating constantly.
  • Two modes in which the head’s tilts are accompanied by vibrations that vary in intensity, in “waves”.
  • Tilting combined with pulsations.
  • The head tilts while the sex toy vibrates randomly.
  • The head tilts, without vibrating.
  • A constant-vibration mode where the head does not move.
  • Wave vibrations.
  • Pulsations.
  • Random vibrations.

The vibrations are adjustable in intensity, while the head’s tilts are always the same: their speed, which is constant, is not adjustable.

Noise level

If the Mona Wave’s vibration modes are relatively quiet, like those of the Mona 2, the same cannot be said when the sex toy’s head starts moving… the neighbours won’t hear a thing. But the sound it makes, a sharp kind of “creak – creak – creak – creak” that repeats endlessly, is quite annoying.

Clitoral use

I had expected to discover a sex toy even more powerful than the Mona 2, which is a proper great vibrator. While the Mona 2 is comparable in intensity to the Smart Wand Medium, the Mona Wave provides clitoral stimulation that is rather comparable to that of Fun Factory from the G3 range.

Vaginal. use

When. the. Mona. Wave. is. inserted. into. the. vagina, the. tilting. of. its. head. creates. pleasant. sensations.

The. G-spot. is. stimulated, but. there. is. still. something. missing. to. really. make. me. take. off.

It. is. a. bit. silly. to. say. that. about. a. vibrator, but. the. main. drawback. is. the. overly. mechanical. aspect. of. its. movements.

  • That, and. the. fact. that. this. back-and-forth. is. quite. timid:

it. is. not. all. that. fast, has. a. fairly. moderate. amplitude, and. does. not. vary. in. the. least. over. time.

  • Conclusion. on. the. Lelo. Mona. Wave
  • The. good. points:

Overall, it. is. a. good. sex. toy.
The. bad. points: But. it. is. not. as. good. as. the. Mona. 2, mainly. because. its. maximum. vibration. intensity. is. lower.The. Wave. technology, which. seemed. so. promising, is. not. effective. enough. to. my. taste. Lelo. Mona. WaveWith. the. Mona. Wave, overall. it. is. a. good-quality. sex. toy, rechargeable, waterproof, made. of. silicone. I. would. probably. be. completely. satisfied. with. it. if. it. were. not. less well than its predecessor, the Mona 2. 2 The new feature that sets it apart, its ability to rhythmically bob its head, would benefit from some fine-tuning: among other things, it would be nice to be able to speed up the rhythm further and vary it spontaneously as the mood takes you. As things stand, this development doesn’t make up for the loss of intensity compared with the Mona 2. Frankly, I don’t really see the point of designing a new model that’s less powerful, whatever extra features it has. In short: the Mona Wave is a good sextoy, but if it’s still available(for the moment, it’s still easy to find, but that may not last) , you’d be better off choosing theMona 2

Review score

Pros

  • A nice vibrator overall

Cons

  • Less powerful than its predecessor
