The Lovense Domi is a connected wand. In other words, an ultra-powerful clitoral vibrator that can be controlled remotely via a smartphone.
The point of a connected vibrating egg, like the Lush from the same brand, or a connected sex toy worn in your knickers, like the We Vibe Moxie, is obvious. But when it comes to a connected “magic wand” vibrator, you might wonder more about the point of it. Is there any real benefit?
Let’s see what this gadget has in store for us. So, here’s our review of the Lovense Domi wand.
Sex toy packaging
The packaging is a sturdy cardboard box, with foam padding.
No storage accessories are included. For a sex toy that costs around a hundred euros, that’s a bit stingy.
What the Lovense Domi looks like
The Domi is a fairly small wand, in black. Like all clitoral magic wands, it looks remarkably like a microphone.
Texture and materials
The Lovense Domi is covered in silicone. It’s rigid, but its surface is soft and its neck is flexible.
Powering the Lovense Domi
The Lovense Domi recharges using a USB cable. It has a jack plug that you insert into a hole at the base of the sex toy.
The Domi only has 3 intensity levels, adjusted using its two buttons.
That might seem like very few. But the intensity of these three modes can be customised using the sex toy’s app. It’s a slightly odd choice: a simple dial on the toy, for example, would probably have been more practical. Still, being able to configure the intensity of each vibration level is quite nice. I’m undecided.
Of course, that’s not the app’s only purpose. But I’ll tell you more about that in the next section.
Controlling the Lovense Domi with a smartphone
The Lovense Domi is a connected sex toy, which means you can control it with a smartphone. You can also use it to configure how it works when it’s offline.
Lovense Remote
The app that lets you control the Domi using a smartphone is called Lovense Remote. It’s the same app for all the brand’s connected sex toys. It’s free to download from Google Play or the App Store, and all its features are free. “Well, it would be a bit much to charge extra after you’ve just bought a pretty expensive sex toy!”, you might say… But not every brand sees it that way.
The app lets you control the sex toy via Bluetooth, either if you’re the person wearing it or if you’re nearby. That’s “short-distance” mode.
But you can also hand control over to a partner at a distance. To do that, your smartphone needs to have internet access, of course.
Before you can use it, the app asks you to create an account with an email address and a password. There’s no sign-in via any social network, which is a good thing as it avoids accidental mishaps.
Short distance
“Short-distance” mode offers five ways to control the Lovense Domi:
- Remote control: use your smartphone to adjust the sex toy’s vibration intensity in real time.
- Alarm: the sex toy wakes you up by vibrating. This might be tempting with a vibrating egg like the Lush, but it’s not practical with a clitoral wand.
- Music: the sex toy vibrates to the music of your choice.
- Sound: the sex toy reacts to ambient noise or your voice.
- My patterns: save customised vibration patterns, or use ones you’ve created or downloaded previously.
Long distance
In “long-distance” mode, you can have several partners if you want, and add or remove contacts at any time.
To add your other half, your sex friend, or your neighbour, just send them an invitation. To do that, you’ll need to know their username. Searching by email isn’t allowed. Otherwise, it would be far too easy to randomly enter every email address in your contacts and find out which of them is a little minx! The fact that Lovense has thought of this trick and mentions it also seems to show a certain degree of attention to privacy.
With Lovense Remote in Long-distance mode, you can make video and voice calls, send messages, photos and vibration patterns, and hand control of your sex toy to the person you’re talking to, or take control of theirs.
Our opinion of the Lovense Remote app
Overall, controlling the Lovense Domi via a smartphone is well designed. There’s very little lag in remote-control mode, and the sex toy has no trouble keeping up when it’s guided by ambient sound or a piece of music.
We regularly hear about connected sex toys being hacked, most recently the connected chastity cage that kidnaps willies. What about the security of the Lovense Remote app? In any case, its privacy policy is quite detailed, which is reassuring. Obviously, that doesn’t guarantee it’s infallible, but it does show that the brand has taken issues of security and data privacy seriously.
Lovense Connect: the app for camgirls
A second app, Lovense Connect, is aimed at camgirls and camboys. You can also find it on Google Play and the App Store.
The brand offers a user guide. You’ll need to install a specific web browser on your PC, or a Chrome extension (a bit of tinkering is required).
After that, just follow the instructions for your favourite cam platform. As for compatibility, the official Lovense website lists the following platforms: Cam4, Chaturbate, CamSoda, MyFreeCams, Flirt4Free, Stripchat, EuroLive, MyFetishLIVE, BongaCams, Naked and Camplace.
I haven’t tried it. My brief introduction to Chaturbate as an amateur model was fun, but I admit I couldn’t be bothered to give it another go, with or without a Lovense sex toy.
Note: on Google Play, there’s a third app called “Lovense”, with a strawberry for its logo. Be warned: it has absolutely nothing to do with the brand of connected sex toys. We haven’t risked installing it.

We haven’t risked installing it, but it seems to be some kind of dating app trying to cause confusion in order to sell a paid subscription.
How effective is the Lovense Domi?
I’ve read here and there that the Lovense Domi is more powerful than ultra-powerful corded vibrators like the Doxy. That’s not the case: let’s not exaggerate.
That said, when it comes to sensations, the Lovense Domi does very well. At full power, it vibrates really strongly, with vibrations that penetrate deep. But it’ll also be interesting for people with sensitive clits, as the lowest intensity setting is very gentle.
However, the Domi has one big drawback. If you want to use the wand on your own, without a smartphone, you’ll have to make do with three intensity levels – configurable, admittedly, but not adjustable while you’re using it. So the change between levels is a bit abrupt. And while you’re masturbating, with a vibrator in one hand, do you really want to have to hold and use a smartphone in the other to adjust the power gradually?
In short, the lack of manual controls is pretty annoying when masturbating alone.
It’s when you’re using it as a couple that this sex toy really comes into its own. Right, you have to play along, because unless you have a specific accessory to hold a vibrator in place, the person with the sex toy against their clit (or penis, for that matter) still has to hold it in their hand. But letting yourself go and enjoying the vibrations of the Lovense Domi while your partner controls the changes in intensity is genuinely rather lovely.

Conclusion on the Lovense Domi
The good points:
- The Lovense Domi is a very powerful clitoral vibrator.
- It’s great fun for playing as a couple.
- The Lovense Remote app is well designed.
The bad points:
- The lack of “physical” controls on the sex toy is annoying when using it on your own.
Review score
Pros
- Very powerful vibrations
- Fun for playing as a couple
- Well-designed app
Cons
- Clunky controls for solo use
The Lovense Domi is a really nice vibrator for playing as a couple, thanks to its responsive controls and fun, well-designed app. On your own, though, the lack of physical controls is a rather peculiar drawback. If you’re not in the mood to keep a smartphone in your hand, you’ll have to put up with changes in intensity that are too abrupt. A little adjustment dial alongside the controls wouldn’t have gone amiss!
