The Luminous Lover Lovehoney is a flat-based silicone dildo, designed for G-spot stimulation. Its special feature: it is adorned with a multitude of small light green stars that glow in the dark. Yes, but what for? You might be asking. Well, these little stars are purely decorative, but admit it – it’s super cute!
I love phosphorescent things, and that was all it took for me to want to try it. The neon cherry on top, this sex toy doesn’t really cost much, less than €35.
Here is my review of the Luminous Lover Lovehoney.
Packaging
As with most of its budget dildos, Lovehoney chose to save on the packaging rather than on the quality of the sex toy. In short, the box is made of thin, disposable cardboard, with a simple plastic film wrapping around the sex toy. So we won’t be spending too long on the packaging.
Appearance of the Luminous Lover
The Luminous Lover is black, with light green stars of varying sizes. As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, these are phosphorescent: after being exposed to light, they glow in the dark. It’s very pretty, and it reminds you of those luminous stickers you can buy to cover walls and give them a celestial atmosphere.
You may have already heard some worrying anecdotes about radium-based phosphorescent objects, in particular the hands of old alarm clocks made in the 1920s–1930s. And not only that – back in the day, radium was being put into anti-wrinkle creams, eye creams, toothpastes, and even in water to give it so-called medicinal properties.
Fortunately, this is no longer the case these days, and in case you have any doubts, there’s a simple way to check. If, after being placed in the dark, the object eventually stops glowing after a short while, that means its phosphorescence is not due to radioactivity. And by trying this out with any contemporary phosphorescent object – whether it’s a sex toy, a stuffed animal, a pen, etc. – you’ll very quickly be reassured on the matter. No, of course not, it’s not radioactive! And the same goes for phosphorescent condoms.
Its base is flat, which allows it to stand upright, its curve is very pronounced, and its tip is ball-shaped.
It measures 17 centimetres long, for a diameter of approximately 3.5 centimetres.
Texture and materials
The Luminous Lover dildo is made of pure silicone, a body-safe material. You can therefore use it without risk, and it is odourless and non-porous. It is supple and flexible, but still rather firm (or at least not squishy).
Using the Luminous Lover
The Luminous Lover can be used for vaginal as well as anal penetration. Its diameter is not too wide, and its wide, flat base allows for insertion without the risk of it getting stuck where the sun doesn’t shine. It can also be worn in a harness.
However, its shape primarily predestines it for vaginal penetration. Once inserted, the ball at its tip wraps around the pubic bone and exerts a firm pressure against the G-spot. The stimulation is therefore very effective, whether you prefer to move the sex toy in a back-and-forth motion or a rocking motion.

Conclusion on the Luminous Lover
The good points:
- The Luminous Lover is a lovely little silicone dildo, flat-based, that can be worn in a harness, and very effective for G-spot stimulation.
- It’s super cute with its little phosphorescent stars.
- It costs less than €35.
The bad points:
- Nothing to report, except that it’s a rather simple and classic sex toy. It may therefore not meet the expectations of high-tech gadget enthusiasts.
