The Bobtoys brand is one of the members of the Plaisir de France association, which brings together manufacturers of made-in-France sex toys, including La Tour est Folle, which we have already talked about on this blog.
Thierry Germain, the cabinet maker behind this brand, makes and sells wooden sex toys. He sent us one of his models, the Joy, for us to test and to share our opinion on it.
The Joy is an original sex toy, all rounded, suitable for anal as well as vaginal use.
Here, then, is the review of the Joy, from Bobtoys.
Packaging of the sex toy
The Joy arrived in a pretty, well-presented package, with the bottom lined with tissue paper.
A storage case is included. It is made of thick beige cloth, and the Bobtoys brand logo is printed on it. It closes by pulling on a small drawstring.
When you receive it, the sex toy is stored in this case.
Aspect and dimensions of the Bobtoys Joy
The Joy is carved in a single block, consisting of a handle and three wooden “balls” arranged in a line, joined together by much thinner sections. Its surface is all curves, with no angles.
It measures 23 centimetres long. 19 centimetres of which are insertable, in theory, if one assumes that the sex toy can be inserted without the risk of it getting stuck up to its third ball… But for my part, I cannot go further than the second, which leaves me quite a bit of length serving as a handle.
Its diameter is 4.5 cm, measured at the circumference of the “balls” in question. For fans of large toys, there is a very similar model, with a wider diameter (5.5 cm), the Bigjoy.

Texture and materials
The model we received is made of ash. It is a light-coloured, hard wood, often used in the making of wooden objects intended to come into contact with food (cutlery, etc.).
There is also another version of the Joy, in rosewood, darker and a little more expensive. This price difference is explained by the difference in the cost of the raw materials. Rosewood has nothing to do with roses. In fact, it comes from a tropical tree, native to the Amazon, bearing the lovely name Aniba rosaeodora, and renowned for the beautiful rosy hue of its heartwood.
Bobtoys also uses violetwood (again, nothing to do with flowers), cocobolo and ebony in the making of its other models.

The surface is perfectly smooth and soft, with not a single flaw. The wood grain is clearly visible, but it is perfectly polished and covered with a protective coating.
In the Joy’s presentation on Bobtoys’ website, one can read “Finish: 100% natural oil”.
The package also contains a small printed card. Signed “Thierry Germain – Manufacturer of pleasure objects made in France”, it tells us that “all Bobtoys products are made, polished and protected entirely by hand. They are 100% natural, without solvents, paint, or chemical or artificial products”.
Using the Bobtoys Joy
The “balls” of the Joy form very clearly marked “steps”. They serve as a stopper and make it possible to use it without risk for anal penetration. The Joy remains, however, a bit too large for my liking for this use. I tried all the same, but I was mainly interested in vaginal penetration with this sex toy.
The Joy is comfortable and practical to hold. You can either fold your fingers over its flattened base, which fits well in the palm of the hand, or grip the third ball of the sex toy firmly and use it as a handle.
As Bobtoys’ sex toys are made of wood, they are in principle compatible with all types of lubricants.
Vaginal penetration
The head of the sex toy, quite wide but perfectly smooth and round, penetrates the vagina without difficulty, with a little lubricant. Then, you move to a thinner section of the sex toy, which gradually narrows.
It is then quite easy to work your way up to the second ball, which you approach gradually: the contour of the sex toy is perfectly smooth and without angles. The second ball therefore inserts more easily than the first.
I mainly used the Joy by inserting and removing this second ball, leaving the first to move inside my vagina. The very pronounced shape of the Joy and of each of its balls is very clearly perceptible. The sensations it provides are unusual and pleasant.
The Joy is a straight dildo, so not really made to stimulate the G-spot at the base. But you get there by tilting it, and the contact of its head’s rigid, smooth surface is quite effective.
Anal penetration
As I said earlier, the dimensions of the Joy nevertheless left me quite perplexed about the possibility of using it as an anal dildo.
For now, I have not dared to go any further than inserting the first ball. The sensations are quite similar to those provided by the Nobessence Fling in the same context.
It is not easy to get in; you need lubricant and relaxation, but once that ball is in place, it is comfortable, because the section of the sex toy at the entrance to the anus is very thin. Of course, the part that sticks out is long, so you should not consider using it as a plug.
