Lovehoney offered us the chance to test the Desire beaded dildo, a stainless steel sex toy with a curved shape.
As I’m particularly enthusiastic about Njoy’s steel sex toys, especially the Pure Wand, but know that their prices are beyond everyone’s reach (no pun intended), I jumped at the chance to look for a less expensive alternative.
What’s more, with its curve, weight, ridges and perfectly rounded ends, the Desire dildo seemed particularly well suited to G-spot stimulation.

Sex toy packaging
The Desire dildo comes in a beautiful cardboard box, padded with thick foam. You can easily use it as a storage box.
What the Desire beaded dildo looks like
A little shorter and with a less pronounced curve than Njoy’s Pure Wand, the Desire dildo looks as though it’s made up of six beads welded together. However, it’s actually made from a single, very solid piece.
The first bead, which is larger than the others, is the same diameter as the larger of the two balls on the Pure Wand.
A small brand logo is engraved in a watermark effect on one of the beads.
Texture and material
The Lovehoney Desire dildo is made entirely of stainless steel.
It’s a body-safe, smooth and very heavy material, particularly suited to temperature play, as it quickly takes on the temperature of hot or cold water if you put it under the tap. To my great surprise, I found that the Desire dildo seemed even heavier than Njoy’s famous Pure Wand, which is already quite an anvil. The Desire dildo weighs 780 grams, compared with 680 grams for the Pure Wand, if I can trust the official figures (as I write this, I feel like I’m comparing sandwiches…).
Of course, it’s unbreakable: it’s a sex toy you can keep for as long as you like. Just be careful not to break your tiles or bath if you drop it!
It’s also very easy to clean, and even to disinfect thoroughly. It’s non-porous and can even be boiled. However, if you don’t lend it to strangers, a simple wash with soap and water is enough.
The Desire dildo and the Njoy Pure Wand
Using the Desire beaded dildo
I was worried that the weight of this dildo would make it a bit difficult to handle. Not at all. On the contrary, its well-balanced weight makes it more stable when you want to give it a rocking motion.
The Desire beaded dildo is “reversible”. You can start with its narrower end to warm up, then, as soon as you feel ready, target the G-spot more directly with its wider end. This large ball lets you apply firm, evenly distributed pressure across the whole area. With each stroke, it effortlessly returns to exactly the right spot, delivering intense G-spot stimulation.
It’s shorter than the Pure Wand, so its movement is inevitably a little less broad, which does mean slightly fewer options and a bit more effort with your wrist. But it’s still remarkably effective and delivers intense orgasms, especially when paired with simultaneous clitoral stimulation.

Verdict on the Desire beaded dildo
The good points:
- The Lovehoney Desire beaded dildo is fantastic for G-spot stimulation.
- It’s made entirely of solid stainless steel, a body-safe material with a very distinctive feel.
- Its price (under 60 euros) is very reasonable and much more affordable than its competitors, for equivalent quality.
The bad points:
- A less bulky storage pouch (made of fabric) would have been welcome. But that’s just nit-picking. Its original box is perfectly fine for long-term storage.
