After taking a look at unicorn sex toys and testing a unicorn vibrator, I wanted to keep exploring the combination of magical horses and adult toys. So I decided to test a rainbow unicorn butt plug.
The UnicornTails plug, by NS Novelties, looks like a unicorn’s tail, which you can swish around as much as you like once the thing is nestled between your cheeks.
So here’s my review of the UnicornTails rainbow unicorn butt plug by NsNovelties.
Packaging for the UnicornTails plug
The unicorn butt plug comes in a thin cardboard box with a plastic window shaped like the sex toy.
The packaging is disposable, and there’s no storage accessory included. That’s a bit of a pain for this accessory, which has a long-haired tail that tangles and gets dirty easily.
Appearance: a rainbow unicorn butt plug
The plug itself is black and understated, with a wider, round base.
As for the unicorn “tail” sticking out from the base of the plug, it’s made of long, wavy, multicoloured strands. Depending on what accessories you choose to go with it, the thing could just as easily represent Rainbow Dash’s tail from My Little Pony. A word to the bronies…
Texture and materials
The plug itself is made of silicone. The unicorn hairs, meanwhile, are synthetic.
Inserting the unicorn butt plug
To make it easier to get the plug into place, you can use a little lubricant. However, bear in mind that while it makes insertion easier, too much lubricant also tends to help the plug make a quick getaway.
Wearing the unicorn butt plug
For a short time
The UnicornTails plug is fairly easy to wear, but it’s less comfortable than a Rosebuds tail plug. The part of the plug that sits at the entrance to the anus is a little wider. Plus, the sex toy has a round base, 5.5 centimetres in diameter, and having it between your cheeks is a little uncomfortable.
However, for a short time, for example during sex, it’s not a problem.
For a long time
I tried wearing the Unicorn Tails plug as an accessory with a bright, multicoloured outfit to a club night. The upshot: I managed to sit down, and even dance while sporting this rainbow accessory sticking out of my bum. It only fell out once, after an idiot pulled my tail while my back was turned.
I wore it for a little over an hour, but then I got fed up with it and put it away in my bag. The weight of the thing and the space it took up in my backside were starting to feel too uncomfortable to keep wearing it any longer.
How the plug looks when worn
The tail isn’t bad-looking; its colours are bright and its hairs are soft, but it’s a little lacking in pizzazz.
It would have been better if the base of the tail had been a bit stiffer. As it is, instead of standing proudly like the tail of a proud magical steed, it hangs straight down between your legs, so you hardly notice it.

We’ll be publishing some photos soon so you can judge for yourselves.
Conclusion on the UnicornTails NS Novelties unicorn butt plug
The good points:
- Its bright colours give it an original and fun look.
- It’s made of silicone, so it’s body-safe.
The bad points:
- The tail is a little lacking in pizzazz.
- Uncomfortable if you try to wear it for a long time.
Review score
Pros
- Original and fun look
- Made of silicone
Cons
- The tail lacks flair
- Not comfortable enough for extended wear
The UnicornTails NS Novelties butt plug delivers what it promises: a fun, rainbow-coloured sex toy that looks like a unicorn’s tail.
However, it’s a long way from being the best tail plug out there. It’s not very comfortable to wear for long, and the tail hangs down a bit too much.
Despite these drawbacks, one thing in its favour is that it isn’t very expensive: under 40 euros.
When it comes to comfortable tail plugs for pet play, I haven’t yet found anything better than the ones by Rosebuds, which stand up with a bit of flair and have a thin stem and a slim, round base that doesn’t bother the wearer’s backside. But they’re in a different price bracket (a little more than twice the price), and they don’t make rainbow plugs.
