After the We Vibe 3, a couples’ sex toy we really liked, we’re getting ready to test the We Vibe Tango. This mini vibrator, which looks like the bottom half of a four-colour pen, is more than meets the eye.
Indeed, although its bevelled tip immediately brings lipstick-shaped vibrators to mind, this little thing is far more powerful than it looks.
With its eight vibration modes, this rechargeable miniature sex toy proves just as powerful as a full-sized one, and just as functional and practical. Discreet, it can easily be tucked away in a washbag.
So let me introduce you to this little bottle packed with orgasms.
The We Vibe Tango’s looks
The Tango is a miniature cylindrical vibrator. The sort of vibrator that looks genuinely innocent at first glance.
Its appearance is very understated: elegant, but without too many frills.
One end is flattened at an angle (like a new lipstick, or a lipstick-shaped vibrator) and is ideal for clitoral stimulation.
Unlike the anal dwarf, the We Vibe Tango is really very small. It measures 8.5 centimetres long and about 1.5 centimetres in diameter.

It could pass for an MP3 player, with its mini charger (well, except that without a headphone socket, it’s a bit suspicious…).
The model I tested is sky blue. The Tango also comes in mauve and purple (to match the shade of the We Vibe 3).
Material and texture
The Tango is made of medical-grade silicone. Like most quality sex toys, it contains no phthalates (bad for your health), or latex (a potential allergen).
You still need to be careful not to store it alongside any materials other than silicone, so it doesn’t get damaged by a chemical reaction and end up half-melted! That said, this isn’t a flaw specific to the Tango, as it affects most sex toys made from silicone and other materials.
The Tango feels very hard and firm, but its surface is still very soft and smooth.
Charging the We Vibe Tango
The Tango’s charger is quite amusing: it’s a sort of half-sphere, with two small magnetic metal contacts on its flat side. This half-sphere is connected to a fairly standard power adapter.
The sphere attaches to the Tango’s flat end, with the two little matching nubs fitting into the slots on the charger. This means the Tango’s surface has neither screws nor a power socket.
This system gives the object a good seal, making it waterproof. So you can wash it easily without worrying about water corroding its circuitry.
However, it may not be as water-resistant as its cousin, the We Vibe 3, because its casing, although seamless and flawless, is made of two parts (the white part and the blue part, as you can see in the photo). So I’d still advise against using it in the bath: it could perhaps get damaged over time.
Charging takes about two hours, which is very quick. Especially when you consider how long it takes with battery-powered vibrators to remember to buy batteries / remember to recharge the rechargeable ones, then go and buy them / find the charger, and then find the batteries themselves.
Features of the We Vibe Tango
Switching it on
The Tango is switched on by pressing a round button in the centre of its flat end.
This is the one and only button on the device. It also lets you choose the vibration mode you want.
Vibrations
The Tango has eight distinct vibration modes.
The first four are fairly “standard” modes: the sex toy vibrates steadily. The first mode is the gentlest, with the intensity increasing until the fourth, which can hold its own against much larger vibrators.
Then there are four more “unusual” modes:
- The fifth alternates a series of slow, regular pulses (nine, if I counted correctly) with a series of very fast, regular pulses (fearing a wrist cramp, I gave up counting those).
- The sixth gradually and steadily increases, then decreases, the intensity of the vibrations. It lets you build up pleasure gradually, in waves, and feels very nice to start with.
- The seventh consists of regular, fairly rapid pulses.
- The eighth, finally, is similar to the “Cha cha” mode on the We Vibe 3: two long pulses, then three short ones. It too repeats the number 7 in Morse code on a loop.
The vibrations aren’t absolutely, absolutely silent, but the noise level is perfectly reasonable for a vibrator.
Perhaps a softer casing might have dampened them better, but it’s nowhere near the racket made by the very effective Body Wand. It’s quieter, too, than the cheap vibrators you find just about everywhere. But if you want absolute silence, you’re better off choosing a non-vibrating sex toy..
Gadgets
The Tango has an LED near the button that switches it on. It flashes in time with the vibrations.

The light from the LED is quite faint, but it’s more than enough to help you find the toy if you happen to lose it under the sheets. And it’s fun to watch in the dark.
Taking a photo of it to show in a review, on the other hand, is much less straightforward. The Tango only flashes when it vibrates, which didn’t make things any easier.
Using the vibrator
Using the We Vibe Tango solo
The We Vibe Tango is perfect for solo stimulation. As I’ve already said, it’s ideal for clitoral use.
When it comes to vaginal use, the options are a little limited because of the toy’s small size.
Using the We Vibe Tango together
Thanks to its small size, the We Vibe Tango is very pleasant to use together. It doesn’t offer much in the way of physical pleasure from the male perspective. But it can be slipped in among finger caresses without getting in the way, to stimulate the clitoris or vagina.
Note from Him: I think its main appeal for a couple is its discretion and understated look! For example, if you feel a bit embarrassed in front of your partner with a big phallic-shaped thing in your hand, the Tango’s understated design will probably suit you better!
Conclusion on the We Vibe Tango
The We Vibe Tango is a lovely little pocket vibrator that you can take anywhere. In short, apart from its size, there’s nothing particularly special about it; it’s simply very good: comfortable and pleasant, discreet, powerful despite its size, well designed—in a word, flawless.
It’s worth adding that We Vibe products (and therefore the Tango) give a real impression of quality craftsmanship. Easily up there with other renowned brands such as LELO.
Review score

Cons
- A tad rigid
- Its short lifespan: it broke down after about a year (I’ve used it a lot, but even so, that’s short...)
