The Fun Factory SmartBalls are geisha balls that are rather well designed. They come in two variants: Uno, with a single ball, and Duo, with two balls.
I had already explained why and how to use geisha balls. This type of sex toy, combining the useful with the pleasurable, helps strengthen the pelvic muscles and keep a vagina in top form.
We have both versions of the Fun Factory geisha balls: the Smartball Uno and the SmartBalls Duo.
We have decided to give them a mini review.
SmartBalls packaging
The SmartBalls Uno and Duo are packaged in cardboard boxes of a fairly small size. It lacks storage accessories, but at least the packaging doesn’t pollute.
The geisha balls
The SmartBall Uno
The SmartBall Uno is made up of a slightly oval ball, with, at one of its ends, a cord that continues into the rest of the sex toy. This odd little ball would probably make an excellent cat toy
The cord will make it easier to remove the single Kegel ball. The area where this cord begins is slightly indented, so that the tip of a finger can be inserted into it. This indentation is also intended to make insertion and removal easier.
The SmartBalls Duo
As for the SmartBalls Duo, it’s a bit similar, except that instead of a single ball, there are two, one above the other. These two balls are not connected by a string, as is often the case with cheap Kegel balls, but by a short, thick silicone stem, which is simply an extension of the balls’ coating.
We already had an older version of the SmartBalls Duo (one of the first sex toys we bought, which, incidentally, is still in excellent condition despite the passage of time, which just goes to show that silicone lasts). We will therefore be able to make a comparison between the old and the new versions. Well, there are a lot of similarities, so let’s focus on the differences instead:
- The older version of the SmartBalls Duo had rounder balls, so a diameter larger. As it becomes slimmer, the new version of the SmartBalls Duo becomes easier to insert.
- The older version had a small extra decorative pattern on its surface. This ornament wasn’t ugly, but had an unfortunate tendency to accumulate lubricant and vaginal secretions. Out with the dried-fluid-catching pattern.
- The cord on the new version is a tad shorter (the length is still more than enough, but it dangles less), thicker (so sturdier) and has neater finishes (the older version had a few thin, poorly cut pieces of silicone sticking out at its “seam”).
- The stem that connects the two balls is thicker and shorter on the new version, which makes the movement less unpredictable, with more bounce.

Texture and materials
SmartBalls Uno and Duo are both completely covered in medical-grade silicone. Even their cord, thick and elastic enough not to cause any discomfort, is made of silicone. You can feel something heavy inside, probably metallic.
The SmartBalls Duo are a bit heavier than their previous version.
Use of the SmartBalls
Principle
Geisha balls, single or double, can have two uses (which are not necessarily mutually exclusive):
- The excitation and the pleasure of wearing them, discreetly (or less discreetly if you prefer) : when you walk, the geisha balls shift with the movements, which produces sensations… Their only use will most likely not be enough to trigger an orgasm, unless you are really very, very sensitive. But it’s quite a stimulating game, both physically and psychologically (the act of telling yourself that you’re wearing a sextoy without anyone being any the wiser).
- The strengthening of the pelvic muscles : wearing Geisha balls works the perineum, the muscle that gives the vagina its tone. That is not the only way to tone up your perineum. You can also perform Kegel exercises, which involve contracting and then relaxing the pelvic muscles, without any accessories.
Sensations
I’m not going to give you another run-through of the benefits of wearing Geisha balls for the perineum. For a scientific study, I’m short on guinea pigs… And for my part, I’ve never made the effort to wear the Smartballs regularly enough to draw any conclusions.
So I’ll just have to make do with describing to you what it’s like in terms of sensations.
A small amount of water-based lubricant can make insertion easier. After that, all you have to do is push with your fingertip in the area provided for that purpose to position the geisha balls, while leaving their cord sticking out.
Once the Smartballs are in place, there’s no discomfort (especially thanks to the thick, elastic cord, which doesn’t pull), or the unpleasant impression that the geisha balls are going to slip out under the astonished gaze of passers-by. In fact, if you have this impression when wearing a pair of geisha balls, it’s because they’re too heavy. Or because you’ve used too much lubricant.
You can clearly feel the geisha balls in the vagina shifting with every movement. It can be exciting, but you shouldn’t expect wild sensations either, let alone an orgasm. If you’re wearing the accessory for sexual purposes, you should see it more as a naughty challenge or a foreplay rather than something else.

For those new to geisha balls, the Smartball Uno, twice lighter and less bulky, is a light alternative to traditional geisha balls. If you have any concerns about comfort or your ability to keep the geisha balls in place, start here.
With their two balls, the Smartballs Duo have a a bouncier movement. They therefore provide more sensations, with a weight that remains quite easy to handle.
Conclusion on Fun Factory’s Smartballs
Review score
Pros
- 100% silicone
- Comfortable
- Sturdy
Cons
- No gadgets or extra accessories
The Fun Factory SmartBalls are lovely, good-quality, body-safe, sturdy and comfortable Geisha balls, with a weight well suited to female anatomy.
The only thing you could criticise them for is that they are plain. There are no gadgets, and no extra accessories, not even a small storage case. But this simplicity is justified by a very reasonable price. Around twenty euros for good-quality, durable Geisha balls, it is definitely worth it.
