Not long ago, I tested the Lelo Mia. A fairly nice mini sex toy, in the shape of a vibrating lipstick, which recharges via a USB port. If I’m mentioning it again, it’s because the brand has recently released a new version, the Lelo Mia 2.
Lelo kindly agreed to send us a sample so that it could be subjected to our judgement.
Here we go for a test and comparison: Mia vs Mia 2.
Sex toy packaging
The Mia 2 box has the usual Lelo box design. Understated and solid. No surprises on that side, then.
It’s a little wider and flatter than the original Mia’s box, but we don’t care.
A small satin storage case is included. Nothing out of the ordinary for a Lelo product. And we always appreciate that.
The look of the Lelo Mia 2
From the outside, we can’t see any difference. Not a single one.
The Lelo Mia 2 has the same dimensions as the Mia. It measures 11 centimetres long, with a 2-centimetre diameter.
The the shape of the two versions is identical, or nearly so.

For the sake of thoroughness in this review, however, after a long, hard look, I still get the impression that the tip of the Mia 2 is very slightly more rounded than that of the Mia. But maybe that’s just an optical illusion. Either way, nothing particularly memorable on that front.
It’s only once the cap hiding the USB port is removed that a more concrete difference becomes apparent.
Whereas the area around the Mia’s port was silicone, on the Mia 2 it is metalised. Or metalised plastic? Hard to say. It looks solid, at any rate. The cap no longer closes by pressing down on the soft texture of silicone, but by giving it a small twist.
This variation is probably linked to the fact that (hold on, novelty) the MIA 2 is completely waterproof. That was not the case for the MIA, which was only splash-resistant.

The Mia 2 scores a point.
It can be used in the bath, and it presumably won’t fear the various liquids that can spill onto a sex toy made to be taken anywhere.
Which, alas, I had the opportunity to verify by accidentally spilling a beer on my keyboard, as well as on the Mia 2, which was next to it. The Mia 2 came away unscathed and has therefore been validated as beer-proof by experimentation. That was not at all the case for my poor keyboard.
Texture and material
The Lelo Mia 2 is made of plastic ABS. A hard material, which, to our knowledge, contains no harmful substances.
Power supply of the Lelo Mia 2
Like the Mia, the Mia 2 recharges on the USB port of a computer.
Charging takes one hour, for 1h30 of battery life while in use.
Same durations as the Mia, then. This sex toy spends more time with your clit than with your USB port, which is rather a good sign.
It should be noted, however, that the Mia included a USB extension cable, whereas the Mia 2 no longer has one. A shame, a small minus point.
Vibration modes
The Lelo Mia 2 has six vibration modes, which makes it two more than the Mia.
Among its vibration modes, there are:
- A mode providing “classic” vibrations, with variable intensity.
- Two pulsation modes (i.e. one fewer pulsation mode than the Mia).
Three new modes :
- A mode in which the intensity gradually increases to its maximum power, then resets to zero.
- A “wave” mode, in which the intensity gradually and regularly rises and falls.
- And finally, a random mode.
I still favour the constant mode, which remains the most effective way to reach orgasm quickly. But both progressive modes, and especially the random mode, are very pleasant for building up pleasure by playing with variations in intensity.
Lelo Mia 2 controls
The same controls as on the Mia: two “+” and “-” buttons.
Turn on the sex toy by pressing and holding the “+” button. It then goes into the lowest “classic” vibration mode. Then, increase or decrease the vibration intensity with the “+” and “-” buttons.
Pressing and holding “+” switches to the more “playful” vibration modes: first, pulsing, then the progressive modes, and finally, the random mode. Switch between these modes by pressing and holding “+”, and go back to classic vibrations by pressing and holding “-“.
Lelo Mia 2 effectiveness
Like the Mia, the Mia 2 is a sex toy designed for clitoral stimulation.
You can also try inserting it (it’s waterproof, so it doesn’t mind any of that), but given its small size, it’s not much of a point.
As for the vibration intensity, LELO tells us: “100% more power”. I looked at the MIA and the MIA 2 from every angle (the in-hand angle, the angle near the clit, etc.), but I didn’t notice this difference. If there is one, it isn’t marked enough to really be perceptible.
So I’m copy-pasting my observations about the MIA, which are therefore still just as valid for the MIA 2:
The Lelo Mia 2 is less powerful than its cousins INA 2 and Smart Wand. But for a vibrator of this size, it is surprisingly powerful.
When it comes to the Mia 2, among the pocket-sized vibrators I’ve had the chance to see up close, the only ones that hold their own in terms of power are the Touch and the Tango from We-Vibe. (and the Mia, of course). It is even a bit more powerful than the Touch.
More specifically, it takes an average of two to three minutes (at least, for me) for an orgasm with this sextoy.
Its small size makes it very convenient to use with a partner. Whatever the situation, it can be handled easily, without becoming too bulky, particularly during penetration.
With its random mode, the Mia 2 still has an extra advantage: the surprise effect in its ‘reactions’. The two modes whose intensity gradually increases also help add a touch of subtlety.
Summary: what’s new compared to the Lelo Mia?
The differences compared to the Mia can be summarised very simply:
- What I don’t really notice: the ‘100% extra power’. In my opinion, the MIA wasn’t lacking in power, so it’s not a big deal for me. But no matter how willing I am, I can’t manage to notice this claimed increase.
- What I find lovely : it is waterproof, while the MIA wasn’t.
- What I also appreciate : additional vibration modes: progressive variations and a random mode, more interesting than the pulsations of the first-edition MIA.
- The thing is not cool : the USB extension cable has gone missing. It’s not a big deal. But it’s not cool either.
Conclusion on the Lelo Mia 2
In terms of the improvements made to the MIA 2 over its previous version, nothing transcendent. It can now take baths and has been blessed with a few extra vibration modes. That’s not to be sniffed at, but I was expecting a few improvements to be a tad more spectacular.
In short, the MIA 2 is a little bit better than the MIA, but it’s not much better.
As for the quality of the device itself, there’s nothing to grumble about: the MIA was an excellent sex toy and the MIA 2 remains an excellent sex toy, effective despite its small size, and very pretty. If you’re looking for a proper mini vibrator, I recommend it without hesitation.
Let’s not forget, though, that the MIA 2 is mostly an improved reissue of the first one, rather than a brand-new model. That’s its role, and that is indeed the impression we got. That’s probably why the improvements, while welcome (at least for most of them), remain modest.
