ThePretty Love Abner vibratory egg has been sitting in our sex toy cupboard for a while before we decided to test it.
We received this rather budget-friendly vibratory egg as a surprise some time ago, but I have to admit it didn’t exactly inspire me. I mean, it’s hard to compete with the Lovense Lush. But still, we weren’t going to leave this poor sex toy alone indefinitely. So we charged it up, and… phew, its battery was still alive.review of the Pretty Love Abner vibratory egg

Sex toy packaging The packaging is a smallcardboard box
Pretty Love Abner vibratory egg No storage accessories come with the sex toy. Granted, the Pretty Love egg is a budget device, but within a comparable price range(around 55 euros)
, some brands do provide a small case.
Look of the Pretty Love vibratory egg has a very classic look, not ugly but not exceptional either. It is oval and fuchsia, with a metallic base from which a small cable protrudes, serving as its antenna.
Texture and materials
The Pretty Love egg is covered in silicone, except for the metallic part, which is made of rigid plastic.
Powering the Pretty Love vibrating egg
The Pretty Love vibrating egg is rechargeable. Its charging cable plugs into a USB and is fitted with a jack plug. This system is a bit fiddly : as you push the plug into the designated hole on the side of the egg, you’re never really sure you’re not about to break something — if you don’t push it in far enough, it doesn’t charge, and if you push it in too far, it doesn’t charge either.
The app
The app is not available on Google Play (nor on the App Store). To download it, you’ll need to scan a QR code on the sex toy’s packaging. You then end up on an obscure Chinese website that isn’t secure, where you can download the apk. can download the apk. download the apk. (apologies, I’m still not sure what that means either) at your own risk. (And by ‘risk’, I mean: you’re downloading an app from a website that looks like it was designed in 2007 by someone who’s never seen a browser before.) risk of hacking. Including those whose app is downloaded from an official store. But here, it’s even worse: the app has never been verified, and there’s nothing to say it isn’t collecting your data along the way. And even assuming the designers of this sex toy are entirely concerned about your security, they still might not keep the domain name indefinitely, and after that, nothing will stop ill-intentioned people from distributing a malicious app at the same address. I hesitated a lot about installing it. But then again, I had to sacrifice myself so you could read this review. And besides, it’s not as if I was at risk of ending up with my little boy stuck in there. By installing this mysterious apk despite the warnings from my poor smartphone, I somewhat felt like I was taking part in a ‘grandma discovers the internet’ roleplay. The app asks for access to Bluetooth (that’s logical) and my media content (I would have preferred to avoid it, but it won’t work if I refuse. That said, quite a few connected sex toys require the same permission). In short, I don’t know for certain where which data has gone, but in any case, I haven’t noticed any obvious problems. I preferred not to leave it installed for too long anyway.
The translations are all dodgy, but I sort of saw that coming. of saw that coming. saw. that. coming. The app offers three modes: automatic, immersion and music. The app detects the egg on its own, no need to fiddle around for three hours, just switch it on. I was surprised by this: even with reputable brands (apart from Lush which never misses), it can be a real struggle to get a sextoy to connect. However, it loses the connection as soon as you change mode, and takes a few seconds to find it again, which is a bit of a shame.
Using the Pretty Love vibrating egg
The Pretty Love vibrating egg connects via blueTooth, but has no ‘long-distance’ mode. The person in control will need to accompany the person wearing the egg, the smartphone acts as a simple remote.
The mode Automatic lets you choose a vibration pattern from a series of pre-defined modes. I think this is the one we’ll use the most. In fact, the Immersion, which allows you to control the sex toy more intuitively, requires keeping a finger on the screen at all times. In theory, it might be fun, but in practice, tapping like crazy quickly becomes tedious.

As for the music mode, it doesn’t work and crashes the app. As for the sex toy’s effectiveness on its own, though, everything is fine. The vibrations are rather powerful, powerful enough to also use the Pretty Love Abner vibrating egg as a clitoral vibrator if you wish. And if you don’t feel like using the app, you can also navigate between the vibration modes (three constant and nine ‘playful’) by short presses on the power button.

Review score
Pros
- Powerful vibrations
Cons
- Buggy and slightly dodgy app
If I had to sum up our opinion of the Pretty Love vibrating egg in a few words: hardware-wise rather nice, software-wise a total messIn short, we’re very mixed about it… It’s a shame the brand took the trouble to design a nice, powerful and not-too-expensive connected sex toy, only to spoil the whole thing by botching its app.
