In the previous article in this series on oral sex, I talked about blowjobs. Now, I’m going to tell you about its buddy: pussy eating, more formally known as cunnilingus. How to perform cunnilingus, and how to do it successfully?
In our first article on oral sex, we already discussed desire, which is essential for anything sexual, the mindset, and paying attention to the other person. So I won’t go over those points too much. If you missed the beginning, it’s here:
- Part 1: The generic tips regardless of your partner’s gender,
- Part 2: How to give a blowjob.
Now let’s move on to the technique, with Professor Pussy explaining cunnilingus.
How to (properly) perform cunnilingus? Here are a few tips.
Note: Someone can have a vagina and not identify as a woman, or vice versa. It might happen that I use some feminine qualifiers in this article associated with people who have a vagina, as a shortcut to avoid repeating “the owner of a pussy” 36 times. I hope this won’t offend anyone.
How to perform cunnilingus?
Anatomy of the pussy
When you look at the crotch of a person with female genitalia, what you see is called the vulva. The vagina is the cavity where you can insert things, like fingers.
The front of the vulva is a rather fleshy area, which may have hair – or not if your partner shaves: that’s the mons pubis.
Just below are the labia majora, which may also be hairy or not (same thing: it depends on shaving). The vulva has two pairs of lips. The labia minora, made of mucous membrane, are located between the labia majora, and they may protrude more or less (or not at all) depending on the anatomy, on either side of the vaginal entrance.
As for the clitoris, it’s an iceberg organ that’s highly innervated, with the internal part consisting of two large roots that surround the entire plumbing. But what will interest you when it comes to cunnilingus is its external part, a small pink button that you’ll want to locate as soon as possible.
Finding the clitoris
No, finding the clitoris isn’t complicated. Its shape can vary from person to person, some are smaller, some larger, some very visible and some that hide under their hood, but whatever happens, the clitoris is always in the same place.
Start from the mons pubis. Go down. Look between the labia majora. It’s pink. Keep going straight. The first thing you’ll encounter is the clitoris.
Oh, and if you were wondering where the pee hole is in all this: the urethra is a few centimetres below the clit, above the vaginal entrance. But that’s just the “did you know?” interlude: for performing cunnilingus, you don’t really care about that.
Licking
Start by lightly licking the surrounding areas: going straight for the clit can be a bit abrupt, or even painful. Plus, if you haven’t immediately spotted the clitoris, it gives you a chance to explore and find it. That said, don’t spend three hours on these peripheral licks, or your partner might get bored.
Then, focus more on the clit. You can lick it from bottom to top, like a cat lapping at a bowl, or make circles or figure eights with your tongue… The key is to determine, based on your partner’s reactions, which rhythm and movement give them the most pleasure. Once you’ve found it: don’t change anything, keep the same rhythm.
Good to know: putting your tongue in the hole doesn’t really do much. You can, a little, if it turns you on, but don’t count on that to send your partner to seventh heaven.
Sucking on the labia minora is to be avoided. Don’t suck on the lips under any circumstances, unless you know for sure that your partner likes it. The labia minora aren’t very sensitive, it doesn’t really stimulate, but it feels like getting your pussy stuck in a siphon, which is pretty unpleasant.
On the clit, however, if you want, you can suck very lightly and see if your partner seems to enjoy it, but this suction must remain extremely gentle, or it risks becoming uncomfortable or even painful.
Inserting fingers
Inserting fingers during cunnilingus is not automatic, and you can very well bring your partner to orgasm without using your hands. But it adds complementary sensations that, if you do it right, will increase their pleasure.
Make sure your nails are short and smooth. Otherwise, you risk scratching your partner, and getting scratched there is very painful, and in no way pleasurable. If you have bimbo or guitarist manicure, use a sex toy instead of your fingers.
Second point: ensure the area is properly lubricated: naturally through vaginal secretions, or use your saliva or lubricant. Without that, penetration can be unpleasant or even painful.
Third point, which might seem obvious: don’t try to insert too many fingers! Go progressively, first one finger, then two, once the person receiving the cunnilingus is relaxed enough. Don’t insert more unless your partner expresses the desire.
With your fingers, make a back-and-forth movement. You can optionally slightly curl your fingers forward (towards the belly button) to stimulate the G-spot. The rhythm and angle should be adjusted based on the other’s reactions. Everyone has their preferences, from almost still to very fast, and it also depends on the moment. Like with the licking: once you’ve found the magic formula that works, keep the rhythm!
Conclusion: how to perform cunnilingus?
This little guide to cunnilingus is just a set of general pointers, just like the little guide to blowjobs, and your partner will be best placed to tell you their preferences and what really turns them on. Talking about it and sharing impressions and desires, whether before, during, or after sex, can only be good, and helps you get to know each other better.
I don’t have all the answers when it comes to blowjobs or cunnilingus, and I’m sure there are plenty of techniques for successful oral sex. If you have tips, comments, tricks, feel free to share them in the comments!
So we’ve detailed how to please the other with your mouth, whether it’s a blowjob or cunnilingus. But we haven’t covered the topic completely. In a future article, we’ll consider another perspective: how to receive oral sex?
