Review of the Cloud Orchid vibrator by Minds of Love

on

We have had the opportunity to test the Cloud Orchid vibrator, from the brand Minds of Love.

This little clitoral vibrator attracted me, partly because of its look, and partly because, for a fairly low price, it offers two essential advantages: it is rechargeable and comes with a storage case.

In addition, we had already tested a sex toy from this brand, the rabbit Seducer, which had left us with a fairly good impression.

Let’s see what this nice sex toy holds in store for us.

Packaging of the Cloud Orchid vibro

The sex toy is presented in a nice cardboard box, lavender and white. It holds the sex toy securely in place, thanks to a recess whose shape is similar to that of the object.

This box is a bit sturdy, but not any more than that either, so if you have the same sense of tidiness as me (that is to say, none), you will still end up crushing it one day or another.

But that’s not a problem, because a more practical storage case is provided.

The storage case

The case, purple in colour, is made of very soft velvet and leaves room to store the sex toy (but not its charger).

Appearance of the Cloud Orchid sex toy

Depending on the angle you look at it from, the Cloud Orchid looks like a cute little silhouette, or a bowling ball. Seeing a resemblance to a cloud takes quite a bit of imagination.

Its shape is harmonious, and its rounded contours and pastel colour suggest an impression of softness.

The Cloud is also available in a fuchsia version.

Power

The Cloud Orchid vibrator is rechargeable.

The charger, a fairly standard transformer, plugs into the sextoy, to a port located under a plastic cap that you replace before use.

As a result, the Cloud is splash-proof, but it is not waterproof.

Be careful not to lose the cap that covers the port, as it is detachable. I nearly lost it before even testing the Cloud.

Once charged, the Cloud has a battery life of about two hours.

The sextoy has an LED that lights up red while charging.

Controls

The sextoy’s controls are located on a white circle on its “handle”.

This circle has three symbols, each corresponding to a button: a power icon at the bottom, an “M” on the right, and a circle with a central dot on the left.

The sextoy turns on by pressing and holding the power button. When turned on, it is in the lowest vibration mode.

The “M” button lets you switch to the next vibration (or pulsation) mode.

The circular button with a dot in the middle replaces the current mode with rapid pulsations. Pressing “M” again takes you back to where you were.

Vibration modes

There are 11 modes to choose from:

  • Three vibration modes, of different intensities. The weakest of the three is the one we find when we turn on the sextoy.
  • A “wave” mode, which gradually builds in intensity, then fades out just as gradually.
  • A mode alternating a single pulsation, then a pulsation that ends in a “sine wave”.
  • Slow pulsations.
  • Series of 3 pulsations.
  • A mode rapidly alternating a series of 4 pulsations, then a single pulsation, then a series of 3 pulsations.
  • A mode alternating a long pulsation, then a medium-length pulsation, followed by two rapid pulsations.
  • Series of 4 rapid pulsations, ending with a long pulsation.
  • Sets of two fairly widely spaced pulses.

You’ll have gathered that, with the Cloud, there’s no shortage of diversity in terms of vibration modes.

There are actually a bit too many, and it’s easy to get lost. There’s no back button, so if you change the mode by mistake, or if you realise that, after all, you preferred the previous mode, you’ll have to press the “M” button 10 times to go back to it.

The best option is still to choose your preferred mode when you start using it and stick with it.

Dimensions of the Cloud Orchid vibrator

The Cloud Orchid is 13.5 cm long.

The sphere at its end has a diameter of 4 cm, while its handle reaches a width of 6 cm at its centre.

It’s not as miniature as the Tango or the Touch from We Vibe, but its small size still lets you slip it into a handbag without any trouble.

Above are photos of the Cloud Orchid with other sex toys, so that you can get an idea of its dimensions.

In the first photo, it’s hugging the Tenga Egg Spider. In the second one, it’s hanging out with its mates, theLELO Iris and the We Vibe Tango.

In the photo below, if you were wondering what that hilariously original lighter-shaped sex toy hanging out next to the Cloud is, you’re going to be disappointed. It’s just a simple little lighter, so that you can visualise the scale of the image without having 36 sex toys to hand.

Texture and material

The Cloud is made of silicone. In short, it contains no nasty stuff, and if you use lubricant with this sex toy, choose a water-based lubricant (especially not a silicone-based lubricant – it melts silicone sex toys).

It isn’t flexible, but its surface is slightly soft, making it very soft to the touch.

Noise level

There is some noise (which is normal, it vibrates), but it’s fairly discreet among sex toys. That said, it isn’t specifically designed to be quiet, so the noise remains clearly audible.

Using the Cloud Orchid vibrator

Thanks to its ergonomic shape, the Cloud fits easily in the palm of your hand.

Its spherical head is very pleasant for stimulating the clitoris and the vaginal entrance. It’s best to abandon the idea of using its handle for stimulation, because the cover protecting the recess for its charging port and the area containing its controls are not 100% watertight.

On the other hand – and this is its main drawback – its vibrations are slightly lacking in power – at least to my taste. This can, at times, be frustrating. I’d gladly trade some of its fancy pulsation modes for a classic vibration mode that’s a bit more powerful.

Despite this drawback, the Cloud can lead to an orgasm without much effort, in a few minutes. It’s certainly not in the class of time-record machines (such as the Body Wand or the Rock Box), but sometimes, taking your time can also be pleasant.

For partnered use during penetration, the Cloud can stay discreet with its small size, and the softness of the vibrations is no longer really a drawback.

Conclusion on the Cloud Orchid vibrator

The good points:

  • Its design, cute, soft, pastel, all curves.
  • It is rechargeable from the mains (because, well, batteries are all well and good, but you need to have them to hand at the right time).
  • Its storage case, practical and pretty.
  • Its texture, which manages to stay slightly soft on the surface even though the sex toy is rigid.
  • Its price, which is fairly low (around 50 euros).

The downsides:

  • It is hard to navigate the vibration modes.
  • The vibrations lack power.

The Cloud has many of the characteristics specific to “luxury” sex toys: material quality, the charger, the included case, the variety of vibration modes, and aesthetics. Unfortunately, it lacks power (a little, but it remains far more powerful than the vibrating ducks, for example), and that is unforgiving. But we are not in the same price bracket, and it can be an excellent compromise for anyone looking for a pretty, quality sex toy at a lower cost.
