The Purple Lover dildo

Review of the Glassvibrations Purple Lover glass sextoy

on

I’m extremely fond of glass dildos. Not only are these delicate pleasure objects pleasing to the eye, they also open the door to some astonishing sensation play. So when I saw the Purple Lover, a curved purple glass sex toy, I immediately wanted to try it.

The Purple Lover, from the German brand Glassvibrations (a few of whose products we’ve already tested), is a pretty glass dildo with the look of a fairy wand. It’s beautiful, it’s big, and its curve, admittedly more modest than the Pure Wand’s but still pronounced, seems to make it ideal for G-spot stimulation.

Here’s my review of the Purple Lover by Glassvibrations.

Packaging

The Purple Lover arrives in a snug cardboard box, padded with a small cushion, like the Teufelszunge and the Lila, from the same brand.

This packaging could make a long-lasting storage box… provided you’re tidy and have the space. But a less bulky fabric storage pouch is included. I ended up throwing the box away anyway, and keeping the Purple Lover in its pouch.

Appearance

The Purple Lover is a transparent purple glass dildo with two colourless ends.

In terms of size, the Purple Lover is quite a substantial piece of kit. Curved in shape, it measures a good 20 centimetres or so in length, with two different ends: a 3.5-centimetre-diameter ball at one end, and an oval shape preceded by an indentation at the other.

It’s pretty—very pretty, in fact. A far cry from a phallic sex toy, it’s a soft, attractive object with the look of a magic wand. The sort of really cool magic wand that summons stellar unicorns, not some silly pink thing.

Texture and material

The Purple Lover is made of glass. Yes, it can break if it gets knocked, for example if you drop it on the floor or bang it against a hard object. But it’s made from a single piece, so it isn’t all that fragile: there’s no risk of it breaking inside you.

One precaution to take: if a glass sex toy shows the slightest sign of damage after being knocked, even the tiniest little crack, it’s been weakened: you must never use it again. Better to give up a pretty dildo than risk an embarrassing trip to A&E. On the other hand, there’s no risk of chemical reactions between materials, which are usually a concern when storing erotic toys made of plastic.

Glass is a very pleasant material for sex toys. Non-toxic to the body, it’s also non-porous, so it’s easy to clean. Perfectly smooth, it glides easily, even with a moderate amount of lubricant. And the icing on the cake: you can play with temperature by running the sex toy under hot or cold water before use.

Using it

With no flared base to act as a stopper, the Purple Lover is intended exclusively for vaginal penetration.

Other than that, there are no strict rules for using it: you can use the oval end as a handle and insert the rounded end, or do the opposite.

Personally, I prefer to insert the spherical end, whose shape provides gentler stimulation by distributing the pressure against the vaginal walls more evenly. Meanwhile, I hold the oval part firmly in my hand, as it makes a good grip.

And thanks to the sex toy’s considerable length, you avoid wrist cramps while using it. This end is fairly large, but once lubricated, it slips in without difficulty.

The Purple Lover is not as curved as the Pure Wand by Njoy or the Corkscrew by Fucking Sculptures. You don’t quite get that almost automatic rocking motion that bounces effortlessly against the G-spot. But its head is still angled enough to allow for devilishly effective stimulation of that famous spot.

This large, rigid, smooth ball presses firmly against the G-spot, leading to an intense orgasm after a series of strokes.

Conclusion on the Glassvibrations Purple Lover glass sex toy

The good points:

  • With its transparency and pastel shade, the Purple Lover is very pretty.
  • It’s a glass sex toy (and a good-quality one). That’s a good point in itself.
  • It’s very effective for G-spot stimulation.

The bad points:

  • Aside from the obvious drawback—its fragility, and therefore lack of portability—I can’t really think of any.

The Purple Lover is a really great glass dildo: beautiful, and particularly effective at stimulating the G-spot. All at a reasonable price (under sixty euros). Definitely a sex toy worth recommending.
