The Terrific Truman is one of the latest sex toys to date from the Mystim brand. But unlike its demonic alter-ego, the Tickling Truman, the Mystim Terrific Truman vibrator features no electrostimulation function.
It’s not uncommon for a new sex toy brand to pop up on the market as if nothing had happened. That’s not the case with Mystim, whose new range has recently flooded sex shop catalogues.
Once specialising in BDSM with somewhat “hardcore” electrostimulation accessories, Mystim has diversified, with a collection bringing together electrifying sex toys and more “classic” vibrators, thus targeting a wider audience.
Here is our review of the Mystim Terrific Truman vibrator.
Packaging of the sex toy
The packaging is impeccable, with a rigid, nice, practical and solid storage case, fitted with a zip.
The look of the Mystim Terrific Truman
The Mystim Terrific Truman vibrator is big. Even imposing. Twenty-seven centimetres of curves, with a diameter of around 4 cm.
But rest assured, a large part of the toy’s length is made up of its handle. The insertable part, phallic in shape, is still a fairly large penis.

It is available in three colours: navy blue, fuchsia and purple. We received the purple version.
Texture and materials
The part of the handle carrying the Truman’s controls is made of rigid plastic, while the rest of the sex toy is pure silicone (and therefore poses no danger to the body).
Its insertable part is slightly flexible and rather firm. Its surface is very smooth.
Powering the Mystim Terrific Truman
The Mystim Truman vibrator is rechargeable, using a cable whose magnetic end is placed against the metal logo that adorns the vibrator’s handle. The good bit is that it’s aesthetic and discreet, with no charging port on the toy; the bad bit is that the cable format is proprietary, so you’d best not go and lose it.
The other end of the cable plugs into a USB port (or a smartphone charger).

A light indicator located behind the logo changes colour, from red to green, once the sex toy is fully charged.
Vibration modes
The Mystim Terrific Truman has 8 vibration programmes, all with adjustable intensity (5 intensity levels per mode).

It features two motors, one at the “base” of the “penis” that is the vibrator’s insertable part, and the other at its head, and the various modes play on this parameter:
- 1st mode (which you invariably land on at start-up: both motors vibrate constantly)
- 2nd: only the head vibrates.
- 3rd: only the base vibrates.
- 4th, 5th and 6th: the base and the head vibrate alternately (at different speeds depending on the mode). Note that you don’t feel any interruption in the vibrations; rather, you perceive it as a sort of “movement” of them.
- 7th: this is also an alternation of vibrations between the two ends, but with more of a transition. The intensity of the vibrations increases on one side, while it decreases on the other.
- 8th: the base has long pulsations, while the head has short pulsations.
The controls of the Mystim Terrific Truman
The Truman’s controls consist of three buttons: a round one, a “+” and a “-“. You switch the sex toy on by pressing the round button. To switch it off, you can, if you prefer, press and hold that same button, or the “-“.
Once the Truman is running, you vary the vibration intensity using the “+” and “-“, and you change mode using the round button.
Using the Mystim Terrific Truman
Given the Truman’s imposing size, its shape and the near-rigidity of its head, it’s best to have a good amount of lubricant to hand beforehand.
The manual recommends a water-based lubricant, as it’s silicone, but I admit I did try it anyway with the silicone-based Bodyglide for Toys that I had to hand.
Outcome of the experience: it doesn’t look like it damaged it, but I had a real struggle cleaning it; the poor sex toy was totally caked in it.
Once the sex toy is properly lubricated and its user (alias me) sufficiently aroused, insertion is comfortable and goes without difficulty. The shape of the toy allows its head to reach the G-spot and press on it, while its long handle means you don’t have to twist your wrist.
Switching the Truman on, I was somewhat surprised by the power of its vibrations: it’s fairly comparable to those of the Patchy Paul G5 by Fun Factory, in short, seriously powerful for a vibrator of this type.
The potential of the two motors is well exploited. In the first mode, where both motors run constantly, the vibrations are intensely felt along the entire length of the vibrator, from its base to its head.
The second programme, where the vibrations are solely focused in the head, allows external stimulation targeting the clitoris, while limiting the vibrations that end up numbing the fingertips.
The “fanciful” modes are well designed; you can feel interesting “movement” sensations when the vibrations alternate from one end of the sex toy to the other. Only the third mode (where only the base vibrates) has, to my mind, little interest.
Conclusion on the Mystim Terrific Truman vibrator
The good points:
- The vibrations of the Mystim Terrific Truman are powerful
- Its “fanciful” modes are well designed
- It effectively stimulates the G-spot
- It seems to be of good quality overall (very nice case, original and aesthetic charging system, 100% silicone, etc…)
The bad points:
- No major flaws to report, but you’ll still regret that the charger has a proprietary format.
