Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter

Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter: a luxury suction vibrator?

on

When we received the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter, we were somewhat surprised. Until then, the brand had focused on affordable alternatives to Womanizer clitoral stimulators and, more recently, to Fun Factory vibrators, with its Vibes range.

Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

A luxury version of Satisfyer? It was almost paradoxical. Satisfyer is indeed rather known for its sex toys in very accessible price ranges, like the Pro 2 or its really lovely rabbit. With its Luxury range, it seems to want to change its target audience.

But sometimes, the unexpected can hold some nice surprises… Or bad ones, it depends. Only one way to find out: try it.

So here’s our review of the Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter.

Packaging of the sex toy

The Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter packaging looks a lot like that of Lelo toys.

Packaging of the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

The box is made of black cardboard, very understated, with a plastic window allowing you to see the vibrator. They’ve also thought to include a storage case.

So far, that’s rather nice. Satisfyer seems to want to refine its image. After all, why not?

Look of the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

Granted, Satisfyer has often been heavily inspired by its competitor Womanizer…

But if there’s one thing about Womanizer that really, really didn’t need to be copied, it’s the extremely kitsch look of the brand’s early models. Indeed, the W100, with its gigantic rhinestone and its leopard prints or its pink flowers, was simply awful. The W500, although a bit less bling-bling, still sported a Swarovski crystal, to self-proclaim itself a “luxury” clitoral suction device.

Until now, without necessarily winning any sextoy beauty pageants, Satisfyer had managed to stay clear of the fair of grotesque looks that characterised Womanizer in its early days. With vibrators that looked more functional than designer, the brand had managed to stay understated.

But it’s making up for it, and then some, with the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter. On the menu: pink gilding and white leather. The result looks like the handbag of a slightly snobby elderly person.

Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

Granted, Satisfyer has gone for its own interpretation of kitsch luxury, but it’s still kitsch.

Texture and materials

The part of the sex toy that will be in contact with the body and the side you’ll hold in the palm of your hand are made of silicone.

The side housing the controls, for its part, is covered in leather. For what purpose, exactly? Well, if you press your nose against it, you can tell by the smell that it is indeed leather, but the same look could have been achieved with a plastic foam… And it could have been done without, because the result isn’t exactly magnificent. Is it just for the pleasure of doing harm to a poor cow that didn’t ask for anything, or what? Do you know how cute a cow is?

I’ll admit that if I’d been put off before receiving it to learn that leather adorned the Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter, I probably wouldn’t have wanted to test it. We’ve been giving up on buying BDSM accessories in leather for ethical reasons for a while now, it’s not the time to start using vibrators with actual bits of cruelty in them…

The joints between the various parts of the sex toy, as well as the controls, are covered with a layer of metal. The official description of the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter remains somewhat ambiguous as to the nature of this metal. At first, it seems to imply that it’s rose gold-plated: you can indeed read the terms “touches of rose gold” and “precious metals”. But a bit further on, it’s simply “rose gold-coloured metal”. So, it seems not, then.

Power supply of the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

The Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter is rechargeable.

Its charging system is similar to that of the brand’s other sex toys. Indeed, the vibrator has two metal contacts on its handle, to which the cable head magnetically adheres. This cable plugs into a USB port.

The sex toy is waterproof; however, the brand specifies that it should not be left underwater for too long so as not to damage its “high-quality materials”. That is to say, the leather. Not only is it of no interest, the presence of leather makes the device more fragile.

Controls and modes

The Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter has three buttons, and its controls look a lot like those of the Satisfyer Pro 2 Vibration.

A round button controls the vibrations. You’ll start or stop them with a long press, and navigate between the modes with short presses. The sex toy has 10 vibration programmes in total, three steady ones followed by seven patterned ones, and back to the first steady intensity level.

The “+” and “-“ buttons control the suction and pulsation combo, varying their power among 11 intensity levels. A long press on the “+” button allows you to start them, but also, counter-intuitively, to stop them.

There’s worse, but these controls are far from optimal.

Using the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

As with any suction vibrator, you’ll need to have water-based lubricant on hand to properly enjoy the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter. Otherwise, its effect can be a bit too intense, and become uncomfortable, even painful.

In terms of effectiveness, the Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter holds up quite well. Well, about as well as the Satisfyer Pro 2 Vibration, with the exception that its tip, a bit less cushioned, is a bit less pleasant against the clitoris.

I’ll still summarise, for those who may never have heard of Satisfyer, or Womanizer.

The clitoral tip provides contactless stimulation: it surrounds the clitoris without touching it, and provides a mix of suction and pulsations.

As with the Pro 2 Vibration, its rim also provides classic vibrations, which complement these sensations.

Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter

The sensations start off gently, but climb slyly, up to a point where you stay for a moment on the threshold of orgasm without understanding how you got there. Then the orgasm arrives, and you can start again almost immediately.

The “Luxury” aspect has no impact, positive or negative, on the device’s performance. The difference is purely visual.

Conclusion on the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter

The good points:

  • In terms of effectiveness, it holds up quite well.

The bad points:

  • It’s adorned with leather, which really wasn’t necessary.
  • Its look is rather kitsch.
  • It’s more expensive than other models from the brand with similar features.
  • Its controls could be improved.

Review score

Satisfyer Luxury Prêt-à-porter
4 .2 / 10

Pros

  • Effective

Cons

  • Presence of leather
  • ... With no particular benefit
  • More expensive than equivalent models without the bling-bling
  • As for controls, there's room for improvement

Before buying the Satisfyer Prêt-à-porter, know that in terms of features, it’s broadly the same sex toy as the Satisfyer Pro 2 Vibration, with a different shape and a tip that’s a bit less cushioned. The rest is purely cosmetic, and do you really need leather on your vibrator, especially since this hint of kitschy “luxury” makes it more fragile?

In short, if I were you, I’d look more towards the Satisfyer Pro 2 Vibration, or the Pro Plus Vibration, whose boomerang shape is rather pleasant to hold.

A compulsive sex toy collector whose stash now dwarfs my wardrobe, I review every new toy with a critic's sharp eye.
