A lot of sexy stuff has been going on in the world lately… Here is the fifth edition of the sex toy gazette, with chastity belts, statistics, a porn social network, and loads of other stuff.
The adult social network Uplust is launching its French version. To celebrate, it’s offering a little infographic, with a few statistics…
Uplust on screen
If the overall tone is fairly advertising-like, we’ll still take note of a few unscientific, yet still amusing data points:
- In terms of photos posted per capita, Marseille would be the most exhibitionist French city, followed by Paris and Lille.
- 78% of the first photos posted by men would be self-portraits of… their sex. (Help, originality…)
- 18% of the registered women would have already done a dedibooze (for those who don’t hang out on Twitter, it’s a photo of their chest, previously decorated with another internet user’s username, using makeup or a sign).
If ‘vanilla’ sex isn’t your thing, there are also BDSM social networks such as Fetlife or Bdsm.fr.
Ashley Madison: where are the registered women?
Have you been on Earth recently? You probably know, then, that the extramarital dating site Ashley Madison was hacked, and its data, made public. In itself, that’s not really funny: some of its registered users are so panicked that there have been suicides.
Registered on Ashley Madison? Don’t panic!
If you’re one of the worried ones, before contemplating a jump out the window:
- Do tell yourself that, these days, virtually everyone is registered on dating sites. Will your partner really throw stones at you for so little?
- Apparently (I haven’t checked), registration on Ashley Madison does not include email address verification. A person could therefore have been registered without their knowledge.
Barely any women on Ashley Madison
What’s a bit funnier are the statistics that could be extracted from it. You know that shit rule? “There are no girls on the internet”… Well, in the case of Ashley Madison, it seems to be true…
Dating sites often have a fairly disparate male/female ratio, that’s no scoop. But out of the 31 million men and 5.5 million women listed in the site’s database, only 1,492 women have ever checked their inbox. Compared to over 20 million men.
Could Ashley Madison, without knowing it, be a 100% gay, exclusively male dating site? The answer is bleaker: there are over 70,000 female chatbots (compared to 43 male ones), designed to compensate for the lack of chicks by having a chin-wag with these gentlemen.
On Sexpress, where you can consult statistics on the number of Ashley Madison registrants in the 10 largest French cities, Camille did the maths: in France, there would be approximately… 15 women registered on Ashley Madison!
Chastity belts don’t exist
Oh, what a disappointment: medieval chastity belts would be a massive schoolboy joke, first documented in a rather unserious fifteenth-century book, and popularised in the following century. The specimens one can contemplate in various erotic or torture museums would have been manufactured after the fact (a bit like iron maidens).

Thankfully, their modern variant, used as a BDSM accessory, does actually exist.
A ball of hair in the vagina
Want to have nightmares tonight? On Xojane, a young woman recounts how she ended up with… a ball of hair stuck in her vagina!
And no, it’s not the consequence of an unusual fantasy, but of extreme bad luck, combined with very ordinary circumstances.
Indeed, cat hair was simply lying around on the unfortunate woman’s sheets (if you have a cat, I’m sure you know about this…). And, during some making love in bed with her boyfriend, some hair was inadvertently swept along until the back of her vagina, and ended up stuck to her IUD!
The magazine Jezebel investigated with several gynaecologists to check the plausibility of the story… Verdict: yes, you can end up with a ball of hair or some strands in your vagina.
More stuff…
- Recently, the press has been talking a lot about street harassment. But who are these famous ‘street harassers’, and how do they react if a girl agrees to get to know them? A (brave) Vice journalist attempted the experiment.
- Parents angry about the book “Do you want to play with my balls?”… Well, actually, it’s not a children’s book, but a comic book for adults.

- Sex toy manufacturers, take note: pink repels women.
- The compatibility of ‘female Viagra’ with alcohol consumption was tested on… men.
- The Feminine Cabinet of Curiosities tells us about the EroSphère, a festival of erotic creativity.
- An interview with Sophie Ebrard, who spent four years photographing the behind-the-scenes of porn films.

- An 1844 recipe for making condoms from animal intestines. The 21st century has its advantages.
