A quick overview of the early days of virtual reality porn…
He got himself an Oculus Rift, that famous, eagerly awaited virtual reality headset. This device lets you plunge into a 3D scene, looking at the world around you as if you were really there… For now, it’s only a prototype intended for developers and other tech tinkerers. But this peripheral, originally designed mainly for gaming, hasn’t escaped the Rule 34. Video games are all well and good, but let’s not forget that the internet is for porn.
So we (among other things, of course) tried out one of the technological wonders made possible by virtual reality: immersive virtual reality porn.
For those who don’t know about it, the Oculus Rift is a headset you put on your head, which displays content in remarkably good 3D, with a very wide field of view and lots of sensors so that you move around in the game when you move “in real life”. The result is particularly impressive. And if the content in question is any good, you really feel like you’re there; it’s nothing like anything that’s come before.
The Oculus Rift and porn
But anyway, if the Oculus Rift can create such an impressive sense of presence in a game, what might it be like with porn?
It’s quite difficult, if not impossible, to put into words or give you an idea of what you actually see inside the thing. If I give you a screenshot, you can always print it out and roll it up to see it at 360°, but it still won’t be in 3D, and you’ll just look like an idiot… Still, I’ll try to tell you about our first thrills with the porn of the future, by showing you a few images.
Screenshots and distortion
The screenshots below are doubled and distorted; that’s normal. That’s how the computer produces them so they can be sent to the Oculus. There are two images, one for each eye, and they’re cleverly distorted to pass through the headset’s lenses and cover the field of view.
Once the headset is on, of course, you don’t see the distortion or two images, just “the world” around you, in 3D.
VR Titties, an immersive porn game
VR Titties is the first immersive porn game I tried. Still in development, the app can be downloaded free from its official website.
He was showing me a few demos for the Oculus Rift that he’d just got hold of when, between two virtual roller-coaster games, he said to me: “well, this one’s a bit badly made, but it’s funny”.
The intro: wrestling game or sex game?
After putting the headset back over my eyes, I discover the intro… Either it’s a wrestling game or it’s a sex game.
In the world I’ve just been thrown into, I’m a man, and my bare shoulders and chest are broad, very broad, and muscular. I have roughly the build of a GI Joe.
I’m in a room, and on one of the walls there’s a menu offering me two virtual reality porn scenes. I choose one.
Point of view in VR
Without leaving my IRL chair, I (my athletic male alter ego) find myself sitting on the floor in the room, almost lying down.
By moving my head in the real world, I can look all around me through 360°, even behind me and up at the ceiling. But my virtual body doesn’t move. So if I lean too far forward, I come face to face with my own jaw. Well, the jaw of the GI Joe representing me. On the other hand, that’s just as well; it stops me smacking my head on my desk…
To avoid getting confused by “who am I?” and “who does this body part belong to?”, from now until the end of this paragraph, my male alter ego will be called Joe.
A sexual encounter in virtual reality
Joe is no longer alone. A naked young woman has joined him. It looks as if she’s climbed on top of him without warning. They’re already in full swing. So it’s not a wrestling game.
I take in the scene from every angle. I’m really in it, no matter where I look, even when I get close, very close to my virtual partner.
The scene is a little repetitive, and the characters a little stiff, but it’s already impressive… I want to see more.
Virtual Real Porn: virtual reality porn films
Virtual Real Porn, formerly known as Oculus Real Porn, is a company that makes 3D porn films to watch with a virtual reality headset. So they’re compatible with the Oculus Rift, as you might have guessed from the old name. But not only that.
Access to the videos is through a paid subscription, which lets you download all the films on the site you want to watch for a limited period.
Point of view
Most of their films, shot in 180 degrees, are heterosexual scenes in which the viewer takes on the role of the man. But there are a few exceptions, including a video in which you step into the shoes of a woman who squirts.
My first reaction when I put the headset on: “Oooh! It’s beautiful!”. Real-life actors, filmed in high resolution—there’s no comparison, it looks better and more realistic than an animation.
This time, I find myself in the body of a tattooed, muscular man, but a human one, not Hulk. The camera follows my gaze, and my head is where the actor’s should be. There’s a grey area, a “hole” in the image at that point. If I look towards my chest, I see his torso.
A slight distortion
The scene is filmed in 3D using a technique involving several cameras, and a slight distortion makes the actress look taller. Later, after watching several videos, I was able to see that this distortion varied from one shoot to another. But I’ll tell you all about that in a future article. I feel as if I’m having sex with a beautiful giant, looking down at me from her height of two metres twenty, and regularly bringing her enormous breasts and fabulous arse close, very close to my face.
In this video, the distortion also makes my cock (well, the actor’s) look pretty gigantic. Speaking of phalluses, the penis is in the right place. If I were a bloke, I’d see the thing (more or less) where my own cock would be.

Veiview Limited: static nude models
Veiview Limited is more on the erotic side: nude models, frozen in various suggestive poses, which you can look at from every angle.
Its latest demo, Lucid Dream V2, came out some time ago and was designed for the Oculus DK1 (the first “Beta” version of the Oculus Rift). As a result, on the DK2, the game doesn’t track head movements, and it gives you a bit of a headache if you stay in it too long.
But the photorealism is striking, almost perfect. Indeed, the women you see depicted are models who posed to be 3D scanned.
Viview Limited describes its creations as “a VR experience for adults in the style of Madame Tussauds (the English equivalent of the Musée Grévin), but more realistic and lifelike, and which you can interact with”. It recently announced the release of commercially available software , called “Pleasure Sandbox”.
Pg production: Japanese porn actresses in VR
Play Girls, by Pg production, is a Japanese video game compatible with the Oculus Rift. But you can also play it without one. We haven’t tested it with the Oculus yet, either.
It features 3D models of Japanese porn actresses, Yui Hatano, Kojima Minami, Sakura Mana, Abenomiku and Uueharaai, who posed for the occasion. From there, you can set up various interactions, such as fondling a breast, for instance, and positions, then watch them play out.
Here too, the graphics are pretty striking. Clearly, a great deal of care has gone into the animations. Everything is in Japanese, which makes it harder to explore the game and its mechanics, so we’re finding it a bit difficult to judge the game as a whole. But the visual quality is definitely there.
Just one dance: a short scene
On Zone-archive, you can download “Just one Dance”, a 3D remake for the Oculus Rift of a scene from the flash game “Biocock Intimate”, itself a porn parody of BioShock Infinite.
It’s a little amateur production; not much happens. But the music is catchy, the visuals are nice, and although it gets old quickly, it’s extremely amusing for a few seconds or minutes.
Around the Room, a chaotic VR orgy
“Around the Room” is another amateur production, shared on Reddit by its creator. He has since deleted his account, so there’s little chance of seeing the sequel announced in the post.
The viewer enters a room where a pretty chaotic orgy is taking place. Couples are going at it in every corner.
The men have some weird thing on their heads. Unless they’re robot blokes with really strange faces… Meanwhile, a woman is doing a lap dance that nobody is paying any attention to.
