With its Emoji scanner, a new section of the platform, Youporn launches emoji-based porn search.
Officially, the aim is to simplify the search for pornographic videos on mobile.
Admittedly, some of the images are obvious. This is particularly the case with the aubergine, for big penises, or the water drops, for squirt, whose double meaning has already conquered Twitter and Instagram.
However, at the moment, most of the emoticons have no universal sexual meaning. So emoji-based porn search is more of a little game for adults than a genuine tool for accessing the porn you want. We have fun guessing which porn tag we’ll end up clicking on by choosing one emoji or another.
Emoji-based porn search: meanings of the emojis
So I’ve tried to work out the pornographic meaning of the emojis that Youporn offers.
So we have:
- The Tokyo Tower: Japanese porn, or “JAV” for “Japanese Adult Videos”. To discover or revise other acronyms, take our quiz on porn vocabulary.
- A melon (with a rather odd face): big boobs.
- A dice: bisexual. Why? Mystery.
- A hand making the “OK” sign, or mimicking an orifice, depending on interpretation: anal sex.
- The “open mouth” smiley, usually expressing surprise: fellatio.
- A fish on a fishing rod: porn auditions. Because it’s about “fishing for new actresses”? The metaphor is a bit dodgy.
- A school: porn with sexy students.
- Fireworks: porn compilations.
- An alien: cosplay.
- A man and a woman holding hands: couples.
- A pie: creampie, the porn term for an ejaculation into the vagina.
- A dart in the centre of a target: cumshots.
- A dolphin: dildos, or sex toys more generally.
- Two fingers: double penetration.
- A euro banknote: European porn.
- Water drops: squirt.
And many, many more…
Will these codes ever become a universal language for searching for porn? Only time will tell.
