Zini Roae vibrator review

on

The Lovely-Vibes shop kindly sent us the Zini Roae vibrator.

I’d had my eye on this sex toy for a little while, with the idea of reviewing it, as its understated, sophisticated design and carefully presented packaging had really caught my attention.

The Zini Roae vibrator

The Korean brand Zini makes quality sex toys that deserve to be better known in Europe.

The Zini Roae particularly caught my eye because of its understated, chic look and the large number of features it promises.

The fact that it’s rechargeable, and its very pretty box, which suggested a high-quality sex toy, also influenced my choice.

Sex toy packaging

The Zini’s box is particularly elegant. It immediately brought to mind the very luxurious packaging of LELO sex toys (see the box for the Iris).

Zini Roae box

It’s made of very sturdy laminated black cardboard and closes thanks to magnets built into its structure beneath the top layer. It stays firmly closed even when upside down. It can be used in the long term to store the toy.

Its slightly shiny surface has a grainy texture.

When you open the box, you can see the sex toy, displayed on a cardboard base and protected by a layer of clear plastic. You can get to the Zini Roae by lifting this second lid.

There’s also a soft, less bulky fabric storage pouch, which makes it more practical to take the sex toy with you.

The Zini Roae will find its ideal home in the pouch.

But the box is so well designed that it’s hard to imagine throwing it away. Even if you don’t store the sex toy in it, you’ll keep it, if only to play with the magnets.

What the Zini Roae looks like

The Zini Roae is about 19 centimetres long and 3.5 centimetres in diameter. It is curved, a bit like the handle of an umbrella*.

Its handle is shiny gold, while the rest of the sex toy is matt black. There’s a gap between the handle and the rest of the toy: it should not be immersed in water (or oil, for that matter), and you’ll need to be careful not to get the handle wet when washing it.

(*) But don’t try masturbating with an umbrella: it could be risky. Umbrellas open up quite easily…

Texture and material

The Zini Roae is made of silicone, firm but soft. Its handle is made of ABS plastic. It is odourless.

Its design gives an overall impression of quality.

Powering the Zini Roae

The Zini Roae is a rechargeable sex toy.

Charging the Zini Roae

Charging takes about two hours. You can keep track of its charge level. As the Zini Roae recharges, its indicator light changes colour.

When its battery is almost empty, the Zini Roae flashes red ten times before switching off completely.

When you plug it in to recharge, the Zini Roae lights up red at first. Its colour gradually changes as it charges, turning orange at 10%, then yellow, then light green, then green, and finally blue once the battery is full. If you switch it on while it’s charging, it lights up blue.

Controls and modes

The Zini Roae’s controls are on its handle. It has three buttons: a “+”, a “−” and a circle.

Its curved handle makes it very easy to manoeuvre. You can also use the curved silicone end to stimulate the clitoris while the other end of the sex toy is inserted into the vagina.

How to use the Zini Roae

Switching on the sex toy is very simple and doesn’t require an in-depth study of the instructions. You can have fun figuring it out intuitively. But sooner or later, it’s essential to take a look at the user manual, so you don’t miss out on some very appealing features.

The manual tells us about a great many subtleties that aren’t obvious at first glance.

First, you need to deactivate the “travel lock”, a lock that prevents the sex toy from switching on in unsuitable places.

First, press the “−” button. Then, while holding down the “−” button, press the “+” button for 2 to 3 seconds.

It may sound a little complicated when you read it, but the action feels very intuitive. And knowing you’re safe from the rather embarrassing situation of a sex toy switching itself on in your handbag is rather nice.

Zini Roae vibration modes

There are two categories of modes: vibrations and pulses. You switch between categories by briefly pressing the round button.

There are five different vibration intensities. When you switch on the sex toy, the slowest vibration mode is activated by default.

Each pulse mode has its own colour. At first, it isn’t easy to work out which colour corresponds to which mode, or what each motor does (whether the two motors vibrate or pulse at the same time), as the modes are extremely varied. But I tried to make sense of it all.

  • Green : the part that touches the clitoris produces a series of two quick pulses, while the vaginal end varies its vibrations in regular waves.
  • Orange : the clitoral motor gradually increases in intensity, then suddenly starts again from zero. On the vaginal side, the motor alternates between a very slow wave of vibrations and three short waves close together.
  • Purple : both motors produce very rapid pulses at the same time.
  • Pink : the same as purple, but slower.
  • Dark blue : both motors produce slower pulses at the same time.
  • Light blue : the vaginal and clitoral vibrations gradually increase in intensity at the same time, then stop abruptly.
  • Turquoise : the vaginal and clitoral vibrations gradually increase in intensity, then stop abruptly, in alternation. The vibrations at the vaginal end reach their highest intensity just as the motor at the clitoral end switches off.
  • Yellow : both motors vary their vibrations in waves, but the intensity of these vibrations alternates:  when the clitoral vibrations reach their maximum power, the vaginal vibrations reach their minimum power, and vice versa.
  • Red : both motors produce pulses, but at different speeds. The clitoral pulses are about twice as fast as the vaginal pulses.

The Zini Roae also has a random mode, which you activate by pressing the round button for two seconds. This mode is particularly enjoyable. The transition between two vibration modes is very smooth: you get the element of surprise without any interruption.

Using the Zini Roae

Used on the clitoris alone, the Zini Roae can already bring you to orgasm within a few minutes. The vibrations from its main end are very powerful at the highest setting.

But it’s when you use it on both the vagina and clitoris at once that you discover just how cool the Zini Roae can be.

The angle of the sex toy makes this simultaneous stimulation easier, with both ends landing exactly where they should. Its very smooth surface allows you to use it as much as you like, without having to worry about friction. Take your time, and it can give you several very intense orgasms in a row.

The motor in its handle is a little weaker than the one in its main body.

You can also alternate: apply its main end to the clitoris for a few moments (for example, until the first orgasm). Then insert the main body into the vagina while pressing the vibrating end of the handle against the clitoris (for example, until the second orgasm), then focus on the clitoris again.

Conclusion on the Zini Roae

The Zini Roae has earned a place among my favourite sex toys so far, alongside the LELO Iris and the Body Wand.

It belongs in the “chic” sex toy category, and its overall build quality, the quality of its motors, its design, and so on all live up to that description. As does its price. That’s no great surprise, though: it’s simply in the same price bracket as LELO or We Vibe.

The Zini Roae - Objets de Plaisir

In short, it’s expensive, but it’s beautiful, looks sturdy, is practical and very functional. So, if you’re looking for a relatively classic, versatile vibrator that’s chic and effective, I recommend it without hesitation.
