Andro Vita: a pheromone perfume?

on

The pheromone perfume Andro Vita contains synthetic pheromones, supposed to have effects on humans.

Kisskiss.ch sent us the women’s version. The one that is therefore supposed to attract the male.

I was left rather embarrassed when testing this product. How on earth do you test a pheromone?

How do you test the effectiveness of a pheromone perfume?

By strolling around the street after slathering myself in perfume and seeing whether any men lift their noses?

As a young and relatively normal woman, not having big boils all over my forehead is enough to meet the average male’s potability criteria. So there, if some men lift their noses or I get hit on by the driver of a shitey moped *, it won’t necessarily be linked to my pheromone top-up.

And Him, blessed with a not especially developed sense of smell, is not the type to have his nostrils bewitched…

The effectiveness of the ‘attract-chicks’ version of the pheromone perfume would probably have been easier to evaluate for us.

But let us venture out despite all these obstacles to experimentation. And let’s try to separate the chaff from the good pheromone.

(*) True story!

Composition of the pheromone perfume

The Pheromone Andro Vita perfume comes in three versions:

  • The one supposed to attract men,
  • The one supposed to attract women,
  • And the one supposed to attract both men and women.

In the ingredient list, it is indeed indicated as “human synthetic pheromones”. Not bad at all: the “Pheromone” perfume really does contain synthetic pheromones. The product’s name wasn’t misleading.

As for knowing precisely which molecule it is, that’s not specified.

What is a pheromone?

I quote Wikipedia :

“In men, pheromones can be secreted in apocrine axillary sweat and perineal sweat, and in the prostatic part of the semen.

In women, pheromones can be secreted in apocrine axillary, nipple and perineal sweat, and in vaginal secretions produced by the atrial and Skene’s glands.”

In short, pheromones are molecules secreted by the penis, the cunt, and their environs, as well as by the armpits and the nipples.

What is the effect of pheromones?

The effects of pheromones on humans are still poorly understood.

No miracle effect

What’s certain is that it’s not magic. Otherwise, people would know: men would put semen behind their ears to be more attractive, and girls would smear their wrists with their own juices to spread the scent properly…

Even so, that doesn’t rule out the possibility that, without being magic, it works at least a little.

Perfumes, they work on felines

So the effect won’t be as impressive as that of Calvin Klein’s Obsession for Men perfume on tigers, jaguars and panthers.

For those who don’t read English or are too lazy to read an animal article, Obsession for Men attracts certain felines. So much so that researchers use this fragrance to observe them. This attraction could be linked to the fact that this perfume contains synthetic notes reminiscent of the scent of musk secreted by the civet, a small feline. It is from the droppings of this same creature that Kopi Luwak is produced, an extremely expensive and renowned coffee.

But I’m not sure you’d really want to attract tigers.

Pheromones still influence humans a little

However, certain studies seem to show that pheromones do still have some influence on the human brain.

In 2001, Swedish researchers carried out a study on pheromones. They examined, using a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) machine, the brains of people while they were sniffing pheromones (the good one).

Bottom line: only the hypothalamus (the part of the brain that controls sex hormones) of women reacted to the male pheromone. And only the men’s hypothalamus reacted to the female pheromone. How and why, that remains a mystery for the moment.

In 2005, another study showed that in a group of homosexual men, the hypothalamus responded to the scent of a testosterone derivative in the same way as in a group of women.

When I came across this perfume, I immediately thought the creators of this product had completely forgotten the homos in their marketing targeting. “Attract-men for women” and “attract-chicks for men” – that leaves quite a few people out.

But as a result, if we go by this latest study, and if we presume it works in a similar way for lesbians:

  • The women’s version would therefore be “attract-hypothalamus of people who like women”.
  • And the men’s version would be “attract-hypothalamus of people who like women”.

In short, all this would suggest that pheromones associated with a gender that attracts you will trigger a reaction in your hypothalamus. A reaction that hasn’t been decoded, and which has only little influence on behaviour.

Come on, let me trigger a reaction in your hypothalamus that science hasn’t decoded… What, how, isn’t that sexy, what I’m saying?

Our test of the pheromone perfume

Let’s get back to our sheep perfumes.

So I applied one drop behind each ear.

To sum up our experience with the Pheromone Andro Vita Women perfume: it smells good, but a bit strong.

At first, the smell seemed very strong and not especially pleasant. Yet Him didn’t have the same reaction at all and thought the perfume smelt rather good.

Did the pheromones influence his judgement? Mine? Hard to say.

That said, after about an hour, I ended up getting used to the smell, which no longer bothered me as it had at first. As for Him, he ended up finding the smell a little bit heady. It smelt good, but it smelt strong.

So apply it sparingly, since 2 drops were more than sufficient during our test.

Conclusion

In conclusion? If you shouldn’t expect miraculous results in terms of the reaction of the people you want to seduce, this out-of-the-ordinary perfume keeps the benefit of the doubt for itself.

It will indeed be too difficult for us to confirm or disprove its effectiveness, since, as I was saying, it’s not magic. And I’ll therefore spare you any too hasty conclusions.

But, pheromones or not, it’s quite difficult to know whether you’re going to like a perfume without having smelt it.

If you want to test it, Kisskiss.ch also sells, for a few euros, mini bottles. A sample size, like the one we received, which you can see in a photo in this article. Let’s be honest: this size may seem ridiculously small. But let’s nonetheless remind you that you’ll only need to use it in very small quantities, and that it remains a perfume, i.e. a luxury product.
