We have tested the Fifty Shades of Grey bondage kit “Hard Limits”.
I can already see the purists jumping at the mere mention of this novel’s title, which we would tend to recommend to teenagers looking for new sensations…
We haven’t read Fifty Shades of Grey, and that is not at all on the agenda.
But the thing is, as we can’t tolerate the rigidity of leather due to health problems, we have to turn to products with a softer design. And that is the case with this kit.
Packaging of the Fifty Shades of Grey bondage kit
The product is delivered in a rigid cardboard box, black in colour.
Contents of the box
The contents of the 50 Shades of Grey box (except the straps, which we have already installed under the bed)
Inside the box we find:
- Two pairs of soft handcuffs (fastened with Velcro and quick-release clasps)
- A soft blindfold.
- Four straps attached to a central ring.
- A black storage pouch with its logo.
Materials
The design of this kit is very soft (of a nylon or similar type), so it is comfortable enough for everyone.
The inside of the blindfold and handcuffs is black velvet.
Use of the Fifty Shades of Grey bondage kit
Instructions
There’s nothing particularly complicated about installing the straps, which are placed between the slatted base and the mattress.
On the left, the straps installed on the slatted base. On the right, the ends of the straps (adjustment buckle)
Nevertheless, a concise set of instructions is provided:
It is worth noting the recommendations regarding the use of a “safety word”, an emergency signal used in BDSM by the submissive to indicate to their partner that the session needs to be stopped immediately.
The handcuffs
The handcuffs, for their part, simply fasten with Velcro.
The velvet interior provides real comfort in use, and the Velcro does not come into contact with the skin.
A handcuff: on the left, the outer surface, in nylon; on the right, the inside, in black velvet.
We carried out a “sturdiness test”, calling upon our friend the Magic Wand. We weren’t going to miss the opportunity, after all…
And so, after numerous contortions, none of the handcuffs tore or opened…
The handcuffs, worn on the wrists
The blindfold
The blindfold, for its part, is held in place with two elastic bands. This fastening allows a good fit for all body types.
The contact is very soft, again, thanks to the black velvet covering.
On the other hand, and this will remain the main flaw of this kit, this blindfold is not much use… All you have to do is lift the tip of your nose to watch your partner’s movements.
As a result, we will probably prefer a Lelo Intima, or another, we’ll see…
The inner surface of the blindfold, in black velvet (on the left) and its outer surface, in nylon (on the right).
Conclusion on the Fifty Shades of Grey bondage kit
The plus points:
- the comfort of the whole set (velvet interior).
- The ease of adjusting the straps.
- The supplied storage bag.
- The price (around 48 euros).
The minus points:
- The inefficiency of the blindfold.
In the end, and despite the problem with the blindfold, this bed bondage kit remains, nevertheless, a good deal for anyone wishing to try out new pleasures, for a modest sum.
So, if you are not on speaking terms with leather, and want more flexible BDSM accessories, or if you want to go for a rather “playful” kit, don’t hesitate, this kit has its arms open for you (and legs too).
