Lelo Ina vs Lelo Ina 2: The Comparative Test

on

The Lelo brand has just launched reissues of its bestsellers: the Lelo Ina 2, Mona 2 and Elise 2.

The new models promise, among other things, “100% more powerful” vibrations, according to LELO, a more ergonomic shape and waterproof toys.

The Mona 2 is a vibrator designed for the G-spot. The Elise 2 is a versatile vibrator with a “silky-smooth feel”. And finally, the Ina 2, the toy we tested, is a rabbit: a vibrating sex toy that stimulates the clitoris and the inside of the vagina simultaneously. A rabbit which, incidentally, has the good taste not to look like a rabbit.

To mark the launch of these “updated” new products, Lelo sent us the Ina 2, as well as the Ina. So we’ll be able to inspect the improvements made to this rabbit in meticulous detail.

Lelo Ina vs Ina 2: the comparison test

We are therefore delighted to present our comparative test of the Lelo Ina and Lelo Ina 2.

What the two vibrators look like

Lelo asked us which colour we preferred: I chose the green model.
And both versions are the same colour, so we can focus on their real differences. Unless you put them side by side, you have to know them pretty well to work out which model you’re looking at.

Packaging

No surprises here: the packaging for the LELO INA 2 and the LELO INA is identical, or almost.

As usual with LELO pleasure toys, the packaging is pretty classy and sturdy.

The outer cardboard packaging has the same dimensions, the same colours and, of course, the same logo. You’d think you were looking at the same sex toy!

There are a few differences on the back, though. The sex toy in the picture isn’t the same, and the text is in different places.

When you open this first package, you find that the boxes for the two sex toys are identical twins.

The contents of both boxes are similar too, and arranged in the same way.
The Ina 2 is on the left in the photos below.

The sex toy is held in place on a base made of cardboard and foam. The base is covered with a thin layer of velvet, which makes it soft. This is the sort of little detail that makes me keep telling you how classy this brand’s packaging is.

Hidden under a thick cardboard cover are the accessories:

  • the charger (identical for both models),
  • the storage pouch (identical for both models),
  • a sample of lubricant,
  • the instructions and warranty information.

Further on in this article, you’ll come across numbered photos comparing the appearance of the two toys. As you could have guessed without my help, “1” refers to the original INA and “2” to the new INA 2.

The shape of the two sex toys

The Lelo Ina and the Lelo Ina 2 are rabbits, even though they don’t have ears. They have two ends. The wider one, curved to better reach the area we associate with the “G-spot”, is designed for vaginal penetration, while the smaller one stimulates the clitoris.

You can see that the two models aren’t exactly the same shape.

The distance between the arm that rests on the clitoris and the “body” of the sex toy is greater on the INA 2. On both toys, this arm is slightly flexible and can therefore be adjusted.

What’s more, the clitoral tip on the INA 2 is slightly wider.

Dimensions

Both sex toys are the same total length (handle + insertable part, 19.5 cm).

But the Ina 2 has a shorter handle (by about 1.5 cm), leaving more length for the part we’re interested in.

As for weight, it’s a tie: they each weigh 130 grams.

Material

The material is exactly the same, which is a good thing, because the stimulating part is made of medical-grade silicone and the white handle of ABS plastic. So there are no worries about phthalates or whatever, though that goes without saying for a “luxury” rabbit.

Details

The cover over the charger socket is identical on both models. But if you look underneath it, you’ll see that the sockets aren’t the same. The Lelo Ina has a cross-shaped metal connector, while the Ina 2’s is round. But I’m not sure that’s the first thing you’d do with a sex toy.

The difference between the buttons is the detail you’re most likely to notice. The buttons on the INA are separated from the rest of the handle by a gap, while those on the INA 2 are flush with the rest of the handle’s surface.

Lelo Ina: handleLelo Ina 2: handle

I’m telling you about these two utterly trivial details because I think they’re probably related to the fact that the Lelo Ina 2 is waterproof. The Ina, on the other hand, is only splashproof. So that’s a point for the newcomer.

Features

Power

The Ina and Ina 2 are both rechargeable. They have the same battery (Li-lon 500mAh 3.7V), which lasts for up to four hours.

It’s not exactly a world-record performance, but it’s perfectly respectable. I haven’t checked the claimed battery life, but never mind. At least you know you can use it many times before you have to recharge it.

Instructions

If you compare the technical descriptions of the two sex toys, they’re identical.

You might start to wonder whether this is some clever marketing ploy by Lelo to boost sales and prices for a sex toy that’s barely changed. And yet, that’s not the case at all. But I’ll let you read on.

Lelo Ina and Ina 2

The INA and the INA 2 have two motors: one in the shaft for vaginal stimulation, the other in the “arm” for clitoral stimulation.

The controls are the same on both sex toys.

They each have 8 vibration modes, with adjustable intensity using the “+” and “−” buttons. The “up” and “down” buttons change the mode.

Vibration modes

Here are the eight modes, in order:

  • Constant vaginal and clitoral vibration.
  • Vaginal vibration only.
  • And finally, clitoral vibration only.
  • Rapid pulses alternating between the two motors.
  • Rapid pulses in sync between the two motors.
  • The vibrations gradually increase in intensity along the main shaft, while their intensity decreases in the clitoral “arm”, and then the opposite happens.
  • The intensity rises and falls in “waves” along the shaft, and remains constant in the arm.
  • Random mode.

Lelo Ina and Ina 2

And this is where the real differences begin:

Vibration strength

To my great delight, the vibrations of the INA 2 turned out to be particularly intense. The claim of “100% more powerful vibrations” is justified.

Of all the changes made to this model, this seems to me the most remarkable.

Bear in mind, though, that even if its predecessor’s vibrations are “100%” less powerful, they’re still strong enough to be genuinely worthwhile and to outperform many other rabbits in this respect.

Noise level

At full power, the two sex toys don’t sound exactly the same. But, surprisingly, although the new one is twice as powerful, I’d be hard pressed to tell you which is louder.

They’re in the same ballpark. You can’t use the toy incognito in a silent room; it’s not quite a ninja yet, but the vibrations are discreet. With the door closed, you can’t hear it at all in the next room. Another point for the Ina 2: its power has increased, but not at the expense of noise.

Using them

In fact, both sex toys are effective and make it easy to reach orgasm in a very short time. Comparing Lelo’s Ina and Ina 2 isn’t a matter of choosing between a good sex toy and a bad one. One is a great sex toy, and the other is even better.

The difference in power

At maximum power, you can certainly feel the difference in vibration intensity between the Lelo Ina and the Ina 2. But the INA’s vibrations are already powerful enough to let me come very quickly. I’ll take this feature into account, but it won’t be a top priority for me.

On the left, the handle of the Lelo Ina 2. On the right, the handle of the Lelo Ina.
On the left, the handle of the Lelo Ina 2. On the right, the handle of the Lelo Ina.

A good vibrator needs to be powerful enough to give its user orgasms without her having to work at it. We don’t always have an hour to spend masturbating. But reaching orgasm in 4 minutes or in just 2 minutes isn’t a crucial difference. Not to me, anyway. Still, if you have the choice, you might as well go for the best one, and therefore the one that vibrates the most.

It’s also worth noting that the INA 2’s minimum power (the lowest vibration setting before it’s completely switched off) is lower than the INA’s minimum power. The vibrations cover a wider spectrum, with a broader range of subtle variations.

The shape and angle of the clitoral tip

Before trying the two sex toys, I would never have suspected that the difference that would ultimately catch my attention most would be… the shape and angle of the clitoral tip.

Lelo Ina 2
Lelo Ina 2

This is in fact the only fault you could find with the original INA (apart from the fact that it isn’t waterproof): the arm designed for clitoral stimulation is a little too close to the sex toy’s vaginal shaft.

This has two consequences: on the one hand, the pressure on the clitoris can be a little too strong at certain times (especially when you first start using it, and just after orgasm). On the other hand, the tip of this attachment doesn’t always fall into place against the clitoris “naturally”. You may have to adjust it to get it into the right position.

Lelo Ina 2

With the Ina 2, this flaw has been corrected. The shape and angle of the toy’s small arm correspond more closely to female anatomy.

The clitoral tip applies enough pressure without being too forceful. You have better control over the pressure, and the arm sits right on the clitoris when you insert the main part of the toy into the vagina.

Conclusion: Lelo Ina vs Ina 2

The key differences:

  • The maximum vibration intensity, which is stronger (noticeably so) on the Ina 2.
  • And, above all, the main flaw you could find with the Ina has been fixed. On the Ina 2, the tip designed for clitoral stimulation is wider and further away from the part that goes into the vagina. This means it fits the body better and stays in place against the clitoris without putting too much pressure on it.
  • The Ina 2 is waterproof, while the Ina is only splashproof.

Lelo Ina and Ina 2

What they have in common:

The good points:

  • Visually, telling the Lelo Ina 2 apart from the Ina is like playing spot the difference. They’re equally attractive, and their very elegant packaging is exactly the same.
  • They’re undeniably effective. Expect an orgasm in 3 minutes maximum.

The (small) downside:

  • The only drawback I can think of is shared by all rabbits. You only get clitoral stimulation after inserting the main part of the sex toy into the vagina. This isn’t necessarily ideal for those who prefer to start with clitoral stimulation. But it’s nothing specific to Lelo’s model.

Review score

9 .4 / 10

Pros

  • Powerful vibrations
  • Well-positioned and flexible clitoral tip
  • Safe material (silicone)
  • Waterproof

Cons

  • No real downside

In short

If you already own the Lelo Ina, don’t put it away while it’s still working. The Lelo Ina 2 is clearly better. But although the differences between the two models are very clear, so are the similarities in how they feel to use.

However, if you’re looking for an effective rabbit and you don’t have the Ina or the Ina 2 (or if something tragic has happened to your Ina), I can only strongly recommend the Lelo Ina 2.

The Lelo Ina is an excellent sex toy, and the Ina 2 is even better!
