Review of Passage du Désir edible lubricant

on

The Passage du Désir loveshop, which has its own product range, sent us its edible lubricant, flavoured with forest berries.

We hadn’t published any lubricant reviews in a long time. I’m pulling out my little sex-toy chemist outfit to give you a detailed opinion on this one.

The product

Chemical composition

The Passage du Désir edible lubricant is water-based. It is therefore compatible with all types of sextoys, as well as with condoms.

In the ingredient list, no parabens, which is a good point.

However, we are still dealing with a list of chemicals (glycerine, emulsifier, preservatives, unspecified fragrances), fairly common in cosmetics, but to be used with moderation.

Glycerine, a very common ingredient in lubricants, is not recommended if you have a sensitive vagina and/or are prone to infections.

Also be aware of allergy risks: the instructions advise performing a preliminary patch test by applying a small amount of lubricant to the inside of the forearm, to check that no reaction occurs.

Taste and smell

The smell : the edible lubricant Passage du Désir really smells very good. The one we received smells of forest berries, you’d genuinely think you were smelling something edible. This scent reminds me of grenadine syrup.

The taste : it is flavoured with red berries, a taste along the lines of a well-made fruity toothpaste. It is pleasant and has no aftertaste, which is quite rare. Its composition doesn’t resemble a jam recipe at all, so you still wouldn’t gulp down a large bowl for breakfast, but it is perfect for licking off someone.

Eight flavours are available: forest berries (the one we are testing here), cherry, chewing gum, chocolate, strawberry, passion fruit, mint and vanilla.

Appearance and texture

The edible lubricant Passage du Désir is colourless and transparent, and has a fairly liquid texture.

Packaging

Quantity / price ratio

The 50-millilitre bottle costs less than 10 euros. It is more expensive per volume than an ordinary supermarket product, but the prices remain entirely reasonable.

Bottle

The bottle is really nice and rather well designed.

It is cylindrical and transparent, and you can clearly see how much product is left.

Its cap, also transparent, covers a dispensing nozzle that you press to release the lubricant. The cap seals very well and doesn’t open accidentally, while the dispensing nozzle lets you measure the amount well.

So it turns out to be very practical to carry in a handbag: it doesn’t take too much space, and doesn’t leak at the bottom of the bag.

Conclusion on the edible lubricant Passage du Désir

bottle of Passage du Désir edible lubricantThe good points:

  • It smells good and tastes good, and is therefore perfectly suited to anything involving licking.
  • The bottle is handy and easy to carry.
  • It does not contain parabens.

The bad points:

  • A slightly more natural, glycerine-free formula would have been preferable.

The Passage du Désir edible lubricant smells very good, tastes good and comes in a small, very handy bottle that prevents spills. It’s a very nice product to keep with you in your bag.

It is worth noting that it is also available as a set of four fruity flavours: strawberry, forest fruit, cherry and passion fruit.
