A recent survey revealed that 50.77% of Americans own a sextoy.
The website XBiz notes that 1,000 people aged 18 and over took part in this study.
The frequency of responses varies depending on the sex of the people surveyed.

57% of women admitted to owning a sextoy.
Clitoral vibrators, rabbits, dildos or suction vibrators, the sextoy has definitely found its place among the female audience.
They come in all shapes, all colours, with all sorts of features, ranging from the most basic to the most high-tech. In short, every woman can find the toy that suits her desires.
For a Western woman, having a sextoy in her bedside table has become the norm. No more excuses like “um, it’s a neck massager…”.
A sextoy can be fun, high-tech, luxurious, or all three at once — it’s now an everyday consumer item.
American men and their sextoy
And 44% of men said they owned a sextoy.
The sextoy hasn’t quite become an integral part of masculine mores yet. And for good reason, erotic toys for men have evolved more slowly.
For a long time they looked like truncated anatomical parts, with a slightly creepy, slightly tacky vibe — that of the inflatable doll or the sloppy, sticky fake vagina.
But recently, new types of male sextoys have come out, with a more understated look and features that appeal to geeks or simply provide new sensations. The masturbator has had a makeover and has sometimes started to vibrate or become connected.
This is why it has risen in popularity, finding success with more than a third of men.
A biased study?
One can nonetheless question the authenticity of these statistics. Indeed, this survey comes from the online shop Adam et Eve, which sells sextoys. If we assume they based their results on their customer base, the figures actually seem a bit low.
However, although this study was funded by the brand, it was carried out by an independent body.
