The brand Goliate, which we had discovered with the MyPleasure, a G-spot vibrator of surprisingly good quality for its low price, sent us another specimen to test. This time, it’s not exactly a sex toy, but a Kegel exercise kit.
This kit consists of six different weights in the shape of an egg. This is so you can choose the one best suited to your anatomy, or to progress as you train.
Here is our review of the Goliate Kegel exercise kit.
Packaging
The Goliate Kegel exercise kit comes in a very small cardboard box, padded with foam. Small, but heavy!
A purple satin storage case is included. It’s too small to fit all six weights, but you can easily fit three of them in there.
The Goliate Kegel exercise kit
Appearance
The six weights form a gradient of shades ranging from white to dark purple. The darker a ball is, the heavier it is. Although these are objects that usually have a medical connotation, these Kegel balls have a pleasant and playful look.
Their shape is ovoid, slightly more rounded on one side than the other. They extend into a thin silicone “tail”, which makes them easy to remove.
Texture, material and weight
The weights in the Goliate Kegel exercise kit are made of medical-grade silicone, very soft. The silicone layer is thick: you can feel that their surface is plush. It’s a body-safe material, and pleasant to touch. Beneath it is hidden a metal weight, as you can confirm with a magnet.
Their weights are progressive, ranging from 30 grams for the white one to 130 grams for the dark purple one: 30 grams, then 50, then 70, then 90, then 110 and finally 130 grams.
Why do Kegel exercises?
Kegel exercises help tone the pelvic and vaginal muscles. These are the muscles that allow you to contract the vagina, but also to hold back urination. The muscles of the perineum also support the organs located above.
More specifically, strengthening your perineum can serve various purposes:
- Increasing sensations during sex, and learning to “grip” the penis (or the dildo, or the fingers) by contracting the pelvic muscles.
- Preparing for childbirth, so that you can push harder to help the baby out.
- Recovering from childbirth, or from menopause: to restore tone to the vagina and resolve incontinence problems.
Using the Goliate Kegel exercise kit
Of course, you only use one weight at a time. The principle is very similar to that of geisha balls. The difference is that you won’t wear the weight for a long period, but only for a set of exercises.
The instructions are quite well done. They assume you might want to start Kegel exercises without necessarily being an expert in urogenital anatomy.
Finding your perineum
First step: find your perineum, if you don’t already know how to contract it on command. This might seem silly, but when someone tells you “contract your pelvic muscles”, if you’ve never done it with awareness, it’s not as straightforward as being asked to bend your arm or raise your leg.
One technique: pee, and stop mid-stream. The muscle you contract to stop your stream of urine is the perineum. Only do this once, just to locate the muscle. Indeed, interrupted peeing, if done too frequently, can cause urinary infections.
Choosing the weight
It’s up to you to choose the weight that suits you. That is to say: the one you feel capable of holding and moving with your pelvic muscles. The instructions advise starting with the lightest weight, and remind you that this isn’t weightlifting.
Inserting the Kegel ball
Lying down, sitting or standing according to your preferences, insert the Kegel ball into your vagina, two centimetres from the entrance, like a tampon. You can use water-based lubricant if you wish (but since this makes the weight slippery, it will be harder to hold).
Then, you can start by wearing the ball for a few minutes, to get used to it. Your perineum will then contract to hold it in place.
Kegel exercises
Kegel exercises are sets of contractions. In a standing position, contract your vagina, as if to push the ball back up, for 3 to 5 seconds, then release for 5 seconds.
Repeat daily, five to fifteen minutes a day. No more: too much isn’t good either.
When you feel completely at ease with a ball, you can move up to the heavier weight.
My experience with the kit
I own several types of geisha balls, and a few connected sex toys intended for Kegel exercise practice. However, I had never tried pelvic floor strengthening accessories similar to the balls in this kit before.
I found this kit very well designed, and its instructions clear. As soon as I’d read them, I was able to put them into practice, without encountering the slightest difficulty.

Do I plan to use it regularly? I don’t have any real problems with my perineum, but I think I’ll try to get started. If only to see if I notice a difference, and if so, how quickly. Well, laziness might always win in the end, but the effort needed to get results doesn’t seem enormous. Stay tuned…
Conclusion on the Goliate Kegel exercise kit
The good points:
- The Kegel balls in this kit are rather pretty, with a nifty little case. In short: they look good, without the dreary connotation that medical-purpose devices often have.
- They’re made of very soft silicone.
- The six different weights allow for steady, individualised progress.
- Their usage instructions are clear.
- Their price is very reasonable: less than €50 for the kit.
The bad points:
- Not really any downsides, other than the fact that there’s no gadgetry. They’re very simple objects, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing).
