The Man’s Best Lubricant JoyDivision is a water-based lubricant, mainly intended for anal penetration. We tested it.
Presentation
In a large 150 mL tube that, due to the heatwave, reminds me of the suncream I’ll soon be slathering on at the beach, this lubricant seems made to be poured out generously.
Scent
The Man’s Best Lubricant smells “clean”. It isn’t odourless, but the scent is fairly neutral and reminiscent of a soap.
As for taste, without being awful, it’s not great (a soapy taste…). But since it’s not specifically intended for oral sex, we’ll forgive it.
Composition of the Man’s Best Lubricant
I’m not at all happy with the composition. It contains methylparaben (a paraben, and therefore an endocrine disruptor, which may have an influence on fertility and on the risk of breast cancer, etc.) and glycerine (which may pose a risk of vaginal infections in people who are frequently prone to them).
It’s a water-based lubricant, so it’s compatible with condoms and sex toys.
Texture
The texture is fairly thick: the lubricant glides without dripping.
Usage
The lubrication is fairly effective. The product glides quite well (a little better than the average water-based lubricant), and doesn’t dry out too quickly.
Conclusion on the Man’s Best Lubricant by Joy Division
The Man’s Best Lubricant by Joy Division doesn’t live up to its name.
First of all, there’s no reason for it to be specifically “for men” (or specifically for women, for that matter)… Well, we don’t really care about that.
But, above all, this self-proclaimed “best” is undeserved. As for how pleasant it is to use, it’s not too bad. However, its composition really bothers me: paraben-based, it’s not healthy for the body.
A few other lubricants we have tested on Objets de Plaisir, with a healthier composition:
- Organic lubricant Jo Organic,
- Lubricant Nori Cobeco,
- Rends Peace’s,
- Pjur Med Premium Glide.
