Unisx Espace Libido Lubricant: Review

on

The Unisx Espace Libido lubricant is a water-based intimate gel that the shop sent us as a surprise during the holidays.

We decided to write a quick review of it.

Here’s our take on the Unisx Espace Libido lubricant.

Unisx Espace Libido lubricant

The bottle

The bottle is a 100 millilitre tube, and costs just under 7 euros. There are also 30 mL versions for 4 euros, and 250 mL versions for 11 euros. That’s slightly cheaper per volume than the run-of-the-mill Durex Play lubricant.

Fairly understated, it’s quite practical for pouring and seals airtight.

A vegan lubricant?

The tube states that it’s a vegan lubricant, so with no animal-derived ingredients.

All well and good, of course. But reading that, one question nags at me. For what obscure reason would anyone put animal products in an intimate lubricant? Well, some lubricants contain lactoperoxidase, which is an enzyme derived from dairy products, and others may contain honey.

There’s also the issue of animal testing. The testing of cosmetic products, which lubricants fall under, on animals has been banned by European legislation since 2013. However, chemical ingredients used in quantities of more than one tonne per year in Europe are required to be tested, due to REACH regulation.

Appearance and texture

It’s a clear, fairly fluid lubricant.

Texture of the lubricant

Taste and smell

The scent is very subtle, you won’t even notice it. The taste, equally subtle, seems slightly sweet.

Ingredients of the Unisx Espace Libido lubricant

The ingredient list for the lubricant reads:

  • Glycerin: glycerine, which is a sugar derivative. This substance is non-toxic, but can disrupt the vaginal flora for people who are frequently prone to yeast infections.
  • Aqua: water.
  • Acacia Senegal Gum: gum arabic, that is, acacia resin, used for its texture.
  • Carrageenan: carrageenan, a seaweed extract, used as a thickener.
  • Citric acid: citric acid, to adjust the pH of the product.
  • Sodium anisate: a substance extracted from fennel, used as an antibacterial and flavouring.
  • Sodium levulinate: a natural preservative, harmless to the body.

Using the Unisx Espace Libido lubricant

It’s a water-based lubricant, so it’s compatible with condoms and all types of sex toys.

It’s not exceptional, but the lubrication is good. The product stays fairly discreet, doesn’t spread too much, and encourages smooth gliding without turning the surroundings into an ice rink. It doesn’t dry out too quickly.

Conclusion on the Unisx Espace Libido lubricant

This discreet lubricant is pleasant to use, it does what you’d expect of it, and it’s not very expensive. However, it contains glycerine, which makes it unsuitable for sensitive vaginal flora.
